How do you identify yourself when people ask where you are from? Do you say one or both?

I identify with both so whenever people ask where I'm from depending on who I'm talking to or where I am I tend to give a different answer. Irl the answer comes automatically but it's different on the internet for some.

Edit: fixed typo

I always just say the Country I live and was born which is Germany. They will later know my ethnicity anyway since my name obviously doesn't sound German and isn't very common. I also think it's strange to state my ethnicity when nobody asks I assume they mean where I live.

I identify as Polish-American.

I'm a naturalized American, took the citizenship test like 3 years ago and it was a piece of cake. I was born and raised in Poland. I lived there for half of my life. I moved to USA when I was 14. I've been living in NY for the last 12 years. Plus some of the family members from my mother's side of the family are Polish American, meanwhile my father's side of the family has some German blood in it.

I tell people I'm Canadian just to keep it simple. But when people ask me where my home is, I told them I've no idea.

I was born in Hong Kong, raised (partially) in California, now living in Vancouver. All three places have equal impact on me lol
