Why do some people choose to be ''trolls'' online?

I was always curious about this, i mean, they're everywhere, we can admit that. They always have something insulting or offensive to say so people downvote them or have hatred towards them. But what is that one thing that made them  become internet trolls? Was it just purely out of boredom? or is it something deeper like self-esteem issues. People that usually tend to hate other people are the ones that hate themselves the most and because they feel hatred towards themselves they feel like attacking others so they can gain power, control and pleasure out of it. Some trolls are very toxic, while some others aren't and are purely made out of boredom to laugh a bit with their use of ''dark humour". I think there is more than just "bored people who choose to be mean for fun", because some trolls, in the way they tend to respond to things, i can sense some negativity towards themselves too. I could be wrong, maybe i am over-estimating things but that's just my point of view towards trolls. And since there are many trolls here on OH, if you are brave enough to answer this question (which i believe you guys won't because that's not what trolls do anyway), what is it that made you start being a troll online and spreading things in a negative view? Do you guys actually gain pleasure while giving out hate because you feel like you are not loved enough and you want in some sort of way get revenge for it?

Repeating again, maybe i do over-estimate things but there are some questions i am very curious about.

And sorry for my awful way of writing, english was never my native-tongue so its pretty hard sometimes to make a logical statement in a paragraph without making it look ridiculous.

Well, some trolls do it because that's their personality, light humor kinda the sarcastic type. I enjoy trolling tbh when it's good and fun so ppl doing it are in my opinion really fine but they tend to have better sense of humor than us which is not bad imo.

As for the others doing it for hatred then maybe soome issues lay beneath all that.

The sense of power.

There are some people who take a thrill in the fact that they can control people's reactions or emotions by what they do or what they say. For them, its empowerment (one that they'll probably never get off the internet, mind you) with a sense of anonymity since they (more often than not) separate the internet from real life (even though the internet is a real life creation).

You see struggles of power everywhere in life. It's not surprising.

There's trolling to have fun (which sometimes is needed when people get too serious with stuff) BUT then there's the trolling done which goes over the line or is aimed to actually become harrassment / hurt others feelings... (some topics are not very good to push too far)

They want to be notice and the only way they know how is to troll and hate. It might be a personal problem with them and their living environment. I don't think people have time to troll and hate something if they enjoy their life. They focus on their life and what makes them happy.
