Why is 4minute's ireumi mwoyeyo(름 예요) such a hit???

I really love it. It seems like its 4 minutes' The Boys. Its a song that had an interesting structure and stands out from normal pop songs. To be honest though, I didn't think it would be a hit because Koreans did not really seem to like fun quirky pop songs like this one in the recent years. They seem to like really slow/ medtempo, deliberate, and or songs with predictable melodies...

I think this song is just a big gathering of catchy parts all put together!!!  Maybe that's why Korean's like it. Or maybe its just fun to ask What's your name, what's your number, how old are you, where do you live....

what yall think?

Now i see why they say that you are quite the sly snake

I don't get why it's a hit either, their previous stuff were a lot better.

Moemoe appeals to my inner demon :unimpressed:

One of the reaons why I think it's a hit, it's because of the similarities it has with Hot Issue, which is one of their highest selling singles to date.

But it is definitely catchy, it really grows on you, one more reason why it's selling really well

Uh....................................dunno about quirky....

You answered your own question as the lyrics are catchy.

Stop generalising Koreans when the bolded sentence makes little sense.

I was just going by the songs that seemed to be the hits in the past years

I wasn't generalizing I was noting a trend that I saw.

Examples? A lot of mainstream music has predictable melodies wherever you go.

I seem to offend you by saying Koreans have basic taste. Even thought that's not what I was saying...

Busker Busker, Roy Kim, Ballads, the Bounce song...

But I take it back if it offends you...

its just they way I perceived the trend in hits in Korea.

Just to protect my brain matter from seeping out my ears even more when reading a moemoe post, I'm going to inject some truth:

It's a song with a hard beat, catchy hook, and a easy to learn dance. It's pretty obvious why the song is popular unless you're so narcissistic that you think that your own individual tastes should dictate whether or not a song should be successful in South Korea.

The fact that there are continous threads about why this song is popular tells me that there is a serious disconnect between what Koreans actually like for their music and what many international fans think they should like.

Kpop does well in Korea so I don't know what's different with 4minute. I wasn't offended; I was kind of baffled.

Because they're the most popular current idol group promoting at the moment (Note the word promoting, I'm not saying that they're more popular than SNSD or whatever).  The song is catchy, though I think it sounds better if you know Korean (What's your name? What's your number?). Hyuna is also insanely popular. Like more than I-fans actually realise. GS and Ice Cream really did lift her up and that lifts the group up in turn. I'd also like to point out that 2yoon did a lot to get people talking about 4minute even if the single wasn't a huge success. They saw the group in a different light and realised that it isn't all about Hyuna and that the other members have their own charms.

I also think that luck has a lot to do with it. T-ara's song just wasn't accessible enough and a lot of people are cold about the group. Secret's song was nice but underwhelming. Shinee's WSS wasn't as good as Dream Girl. And Hyori only just came back now. Who knows though, maybe it's just their time?

From what I can see the group is already landing CFs from this latest comeback. I wouldn't be surprised if Sohyun and/or Hyuna landed permanent variety/MCing roles either. A 2yoon comeback will definitely happen now as well.

CUBE gave up on bulk-buying albums, and spent the money on digital manipulation.

Volume Up -- 55k

Name Is 4Minute -- 10k

Yes, that's right guys. Cube, a mid-sized company who have maybe one really super profitable group (Beast), have enough money to manipulate ALL of the charts for one straight month.

SMH at your retarded logic.

Your logic is just as bad. Cube makes more money than you're trying to make it seem

They didn't need to manipulate all the charts for an entire month. 4Minute were already decent digital sellers, so their sales for the first couple of weeks were legit.

There's a reason why 4Minute hovered between #2-5 on Melon for two weeks straight, and failed to nab the #1 spot on GAON for the first two weeks. 'Cause CUBE wasn't spending any money then.

However, as soon as Hyori made her comeback, and dominated all the charts, CUBE threw their money out there, and it shot 4Minute to the top, thus grabbing a handful of trophies.

It's super rare for a group/artist to do mediocre on charts for two weeks and then all of a sudden shoot to #1 on GAON on the third or fourth week. For a group like 4Minute to pull it off--very sketchy.

It was a game well-played by CUBE when you think about it.

They used to think that physical sales would bring them popularity, but it didn't. So, they shifted to digital sales, spent money at the right time, and it paid off.

Genius.

And yet you have zero proof that any of this is happening. Not a scintilla, not even a whiff. Your claims are about as credible people saying that the Twin Towers was an inside job.
