What was your Song of the Year for 2016? (If you'd like please explain why)

My Song of the Year (Female)

Rough by Gfriend

Reasons?

Rough was simply a beautiful song. The song was a change from Gfriend's 2015 cheerful songs and featured more of a sad element. Gfriend showcased breathtaking choreography and an unexpected but equally impressive guitar breakdown near the end of the track.

As an international fan that cannot understand Korean fluently, Rough taught me the importance of lyrics. The first time I heard it I didn't understand a thing but simply enjoyed the music. But when I listened to it with lyrics and understood the message behind it, I actually shed a few tears. It can be a very emotional song when the lyrics are taken into consideration. Another reason is simply because I'm a Buddy :)

So it had a great melody, gracefully flowing choreography and meaningful lyrics. All the aspects of an perfect song. I believe this song will always hold a great nostalgia factor for all Buddies around the world.

My Song of the Year (Male)

Save Me by BTS

Reasons?

BTS hit me in all right places with Save Me. The way it starts slow then gradually builds excitement and speeds up to an epic drop. But just as we all thought the fun had ended they break it a vocal free post chorus. You just can't help but turn up to Bangtan as they go crazy with their perfectly synced but powerful moves. Again, I think choreography played a big role in my decision. It was one of the most exciting performances to watch along side the awesome fanchants during music shows.

The lyrics for this song were not amazing, but weren't bad either. They weren't strong enough to make me feel anything. Although the message of the song is emotional, the contrasting excitement of the beat and choreo take over the feeling of sadness.

To summarize it was simply a joy to watch BTS go all out with their choreo along with an awesome beat.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS SIMPLY MY OPINION AND YOU DO NOT HAVE TO AGREE WITH IT - THANK YOU :)

Male: D by DEAN ---> The melody is not anything like any K-pop songs.

Female: You Are My Everything by Gummy ---> No covers of this song by musicians/amateurs alike are half as good as Gummy.

Personal bias: The End by Kwon Jin-ah ---> Why? I just love her. The end.
