What do you think is the right age of studying abroad alone?

either go senior or junior year of high school or second semester sophomore year, or junior year in college

there are two types of host parents, ones through your school and ones through outside organizations. usually both are safe. be more cautious of those independent renter roommate types

Wish I can afford that =(

sometimes they have scholarships and stuff... some of the kids went on scholarships..

I suggest google for more info about study abroad. You will either be with a host family or in a dorm. You do it alone (no parents).

most of these programs include host families...

Depends on your family's level of ambition to support your education.

Highly ambitious wealthy families support their kids regardless of passion, usually to ease their road to success. Anyways studying abroad is also something the student has to be ready for. Host parents can be of any personality but in similar economic backgrounds so only offer differences are their language and personality.

That's what I think.

Thank you ^^

Is there a reason for that?

i dont feel like freshmen or sophomore year of high school students are mature enough to study abroad, but everyone is different. and freshmen year of college is really the time when people make most of their friends through college youll miss out if you're abroad. senior year you need to be looking at grad schools or jobs focusing on your future, not escaping abroad.

19-20, assuming you attend a 4 year college out of high school. in high school you generally don't have enough life experience to assert yourself or keep yourself safe in case something happens, but after being on your own in college and learning to be independent you have a better chance of taking care of yourself and adapting to a new culture, as well as having more maturity to appreciate it.

I don't think age matters as much as the person. Someone can be 15, and have the maturity to study abroad alone, and on the flip side someone could be 40, and not pull it off. Just make sure you understand the situation you're going into clearly, do your research, and make sure you go into it with reasonable expectations of what you want out of the experience.

the kid is going to handle a lot of money $$$$$ for tuition fees and depending on their maturity they could blow it on other things like peer pressure (clothes, places to hang out etc.) or they could be responsible with it. they could also slack off without parents supervising and repeat classes, or too focused on saving/making small money that they'd also skip classes, and in the end also blow up $$$$$, making wrong choices, taking the wrong classes/programs thinking they know it better than parents, etc. etc.
