BTS and international fans.

idk where this topic belongs, so oops if it's in the wrong section.

While having breakfast with my brother today he asked me a question that shocked me for life "Do you know BTS?"

Now how would my younger brother know of BTS? I was so confused, it didn't make sense to me. He's not into Kpop. Then he told me that his female classmates are BTS fans and keep on playing the songs during breaks and whatnot.  :derp:

My country hardly likes kpop, so the fact that these girls are openly sharing their love for this certain group shocks me, cause SUJU is the most popular in the region and hardly anyone knows them. What does BTS have that is attracting these 12-13-14 year olds? (TL;DR)

I don't understand, because during my school days liking kpop was weird and you were a freak, these are the cool girls and they literally have a BTS shrine in school  :derp:  HOW.

It just makes me think that BTS is really amazing for attracting all these young fans from all over the world, and they're lucky that these fans promote them 24/7. Apparently they requested our local radio to play Blood Sweat and Tears and they actually did, what is this revolution...

//I'm not a BTS fan just sayin. lol this turned out as an appreciation but i'm actually asking a question lmao.

If your question is how are BTS attracting all of these fans who, before, weren't even fans of kpop? Or something like that?

Quality music and humble artists who have gone through a lot and hold it with them in order to continue doing better. They know how to talk to their fans. To them we aren't "fans", we're "friends" and they treat us like that. They're all incredibly kind, open-minded young men and all of them have amazing talent for creating spectacular music (they don't have a bad song, at least not in my opinion. Ofc there are songs I like less, but they're all good) and they all help create that music whether writing or producing.

Also, ARMY promotes them. ARMY has had t promote them to get them attention. As annoying as people find it, it has obviously worked and BTS are now one of the top groups when they used to be... incredibly not. It's not hard to love BTS. Even when you're a person who before paid no attention to kpop.

I guess in the end it's about their relationship with their fans :o hmm, it's interesting. Do they like communicate in english/are they very active on twitter and stuff? Cause ultimately that would make sense.

Well not really, but that surprises me as well. It's another country in the middle east that i'm talking about. I wouldn't have expected that in SA tho lol. Although I do know that they have a large SUJU fanbase there, but maybe BTS is the next big thing.

when I was in school no one knew BTS but me, and I wouldn't really share BTS stuff even with my friends cause they would be very judgemental.

To my surprise, after going to uni, there are a lot of kpop fans and BTS is the most popular group amongst them

a lot of non Kpop fans know BTS here too beause they have ARMY friends and whatnot

it came as a shock cause kpop isnt really something that well known here.

There's a lot of things and factors that have made BTS fandom so huge all over the world in the past year, but if I could synthetize in 1 word what it's the thing that BTS has and that makes them stands out so much, It would be: "LOVE".

Love for music.

Love for performing.

Love for their fans.

Love for the stage.

Love for their own group.

Love for each one of them.

As cheesy as it sounds, that's the so-called "IT" factor people are always saying they have, in my opinion. Love. Because loving something makes you be passionated about it, and being passionated also makes you work hard. And you know what they say... hardwork always pays off.  :)

Here's some BTS Bulletpoints:

1) Music that appeals globally: Hip hop, singles that have current music trends in mind, personal/meaningful/positive lyrics written by members, diverse and relatable discography

2) Big Hit emphasizes performance so their MVs and performances are so good that they get people talking and transcend language/cultural barriers

3) Concepts: Youth is their overall concept so that attracts young fans but it's so well-executed and relatable that it attracts fans of all ages (myself included); HYYH/Wings series: Concepts with over-arching, mysterious, thought-provoking narratives that get fans involved and talking

4) Frequent, consistent comebacks plus pre-debut and SoundCloud content

5) Social media: They own it. Enough said.

6) Bangtan Bombs and V-Lives

7) All of the above result in great, digestible, accessible, constant content. This creates an enthusiastic fanbase which promotes BTS both directly, and indirectly through simple conversation (aka buzz). Even their haters can't stop talking about them--see above.

8) Language: Between Big Hit and ARMY there are a ton of translations for their content available; the leader speaks English

9) This is obv subjective but they're just really talented, hard-working, likable, interesting people.

In my opinion..

ARMYs are loud, but again it helps people to at least check them out or getting to know BTS. But honestly even if ARMY made people checking them out, it's their own choice to become BTS fan or not. So that's not the most important.

After one becoming a fan, it's easy to becoming a fan of BTS. They preparing free content for fans, tons of it with extremely easy access and free a.k.a yt, twt, weibo, SocMed in general etc etc etc.

And we start get into what they're offering. Musics, performances, personality, what they said, what they wrote is relatable. even tho the bolded one sounds reaching bc we dont know them personally, but they're really open with fans. Those vapp diary, those fan cafe essays, etc etc.

At least we can know them better than our other faves since they're interacting with fans a lot more.

What does BTS have that is attracting these 12-13-14 year olds? (TL;DR)

Their lyrics that are relatable and express exactly what teens are undergoing in a rebellious way.Listen to bts school triology series you know why young people attract to them.

this lyrics hit me hard when i listen in my school days...

Who is the one who made us into studying machines?

They classify us to either being number one or dropping out

Who do you think is the one who makes us step on even our close friends to climb up?

The adults confess that we have it so easy, they say that we are really happy

Then how do you explain my unhappiness?

There’s no conversation topics beside studying

Outside, there are so many kids like me, living the life of a puppet, who will take responsibility huh?
