Oricon unveils their Yearly Sales Rankings for 2016

Today statistics-tracking company Oricon Inc. published its complete end of the year report, which reveals all of the sales data that it collected for the year 2016.  This includes the five top earning acts for the year, as well as the yearly single, album, music DVD, and music Blu-ray charts.

 

This year’s top five selling acts, and their total gross for the year (in yen) are as follows:

1. Arashi (Â¥12,183,000,000)
2. Sandaime J Soul Brothers (Â¥8,256,000,000)
3. Nogizaka46 (Â¥7,437,000,000)
4. AKB48 (Â¥6,947,000,000)
5. Kanjani8 (Â¥4,788,000,000)

Arashi also managed to top this year’s Album chart with “Are You Happy?â€, as well as the yearly Music Blu-ray chart with their “ARASHI LIVE TOUR 2015 Japonism’â€.  Meanwhile, Sandaime J Soul Brothers topped the yearly Music DVD chart with their "Sandaime J Soul Brothers LIVE TOUR 2015 'BLUE PLANET'" and AKB48 found themselves atop the yearly Singles ranking with â€œTsubasa wa Iranaiâ€, making it the 7th year in a row that they’ve had Japan’s best selling single.

I also hope they release a great album next year , a great one with amazing sales like Jukebox or the Genki CD . I'm really happy they made the Top 5 after releasing stuff mostly in 2 versions ( or even 1 version like the Genki DVD ) and without an album.
