Don't you hate it when other countries portray your country as something completely stereotypical and negative?

Well, i can't change it but lately i've been watching a lot of american movies and european movies as well and i can't stop noticing whenever there is something to do with Russia, i see they portray them as a HUGE stereotype which is COMPLETELY false and they even put russian militiary(?????) and made them look as horrible as possible (as if they are stuck in the 50s or something) , ehm, ok. But i mean, ok, you could have at least done your research instead of putting this huge stereotype...

Britain doesn't often get bad portrayals but if they did I mean, so what? Our country sucks ass, we imperialised and colonised a third of the world and created the slave trade.

 

Otherwise, I think Russia is lucky w/ their portrayal as far as the government and politics go. Yes Russian people shouldn't be portrayed in a horrible light because not everyone is but the country as a whole doesn't respect minorities or allow a lot of freedoms other EU countries do.

It doesn't really bother me. It's more the holier than thou attitudes I see some people from other countries get when it comes to talking about my country that bothers me. They're not oh so much better just because they're not from my country.

ITS NOT, and have in mind that even big channels like BBC or ukranian tv channels as well can portray negativity about Russia and make it believable. Watch "X men" and tell me what you saw about Russia, it was a huge stereotype in front of my face. We are not military base or something like that, we are normal people.....and Russia is like this huuuuuuge continent, so its pretty lame to make a stereotype of aaaaall them

Yes, I hate it so much... Brazil is such a big place (as big as contiguous USA) and people still assume that Brazil = Rio. I live in Rio, but fuck, there's a lot of gorgeous places all around Brazil!! I bet you guys didn't know that it snows in some parts of Brazil, for example.
