Music taste: K-pop (pop, not half rap, not electro, POP) J-pop, Metal /Heavy metal (non Asian like Sabaton, Iron Maiden and Nightwish-Pre 2008)
Hobbies: Yu-Gi-Oh, Gaming (RPGs, Action / Adventure) listening to music (mostly K-pop, but there is some J-pop in there as well)
Interests: Japan, K-drama, J-drama, music, Gaming, Anime (I barely watch it, but it still interests me) technology, and science.
Humor: dark.. very dark, dry as well.


Musical history:

Back in 2004 I didn't have a real music taste, just went with the music from different games like final fantasy (eyes on me, melody of life, that kind of stuff) until I "discovered" Utada Hikaru. She sang a song in Kingdom hearts and I really liked it After doing some research I decided to follow her as a fan and bought albums, DVDs the whole shebang, still have her collection up to this day, still like her music from back then, but her recent work (2010 and afterwards) really disappointed me, so I stopped being a fan of her and looked elsewhere for my music addiction.

I came across a different artist, someone with more "spunk" more "pop" her name? Kwon BoA.

She was the first artist that I heard that was Korean. Her looks were good and her songs were amazing, Shine we are, NO.1 and Milky way, stole my heart away from Utada and I had a new genre I could explore...K-pop.

After doing some research (top 100 K-pop songs, top 50 lists, you know the drill, and after i found an artist i liked, i listened to all of their songs, hoping there would be something i would like) I found a girl band called SNSD / girls generation. Their music was upbeat, happy, and it gave me a good feeling, really glad I found them and I still listen to some of their old songs like "girls generation" "oh lala", "baby baby baby", and "brand new world" to name a few. Still very solid overall.

Since then I have scoured the wastelands of K-pop in search for other artists. I found a few, like "Younha", "KARA", and "DalShabbet" but since the era of 2012, there are fewer and fewer bands that I like and since then my new musical adventure has come to an end.


Why I joined this forum:

After the whole AKP vs OH debacle, I became curious to the site many loved, but couldn't get access to.

After looking around for a bit, I have a few things I like already. Won is a nice little touch to reward active users. A lot of users already have a big history on the site (2k+ posts) so the community is doing something right to keep the members for that long.

I am a pretty open book so to speak, I have very little secrets, so ask those "awkward" questions, it makes this topic all the more fun.

 

 

I hope I will be a welcome addition to the community and I hope I will stay here for a long time.
