Does someone have any idea how Johnny's works?

Nope, not in the slightest.  Johnny's Entertainment is a mega huge company owned by Johnnny Kitagawa which only debuts male groups since their one female group flopped over 30 years ago. There are Johnny's Juniors who are not assigned or placed into any groups and act as back dancers for the senior groups during concerts where they sometimes get to perform,or help out at handshake events, there's also a tv show where you get to see them.Juniors are normally young and get exposed to the public where they can then start to garner fans before debut. While as Juniors, the guys are placed into groups with others who they train and practice with.

Almost every year Johnnys or JE debuts one male group consisting of a popular Johnny Juniors group. They then push and promote them like they do their regular artists. They also hold an annual New Year's concert for the entire company but their established and  popular artists like Arashi hold their new years concerts separately.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask. It gets kind of complicated when you start going into the different factions and who runs who and marriage and such.

Basically, however they don't seem to be under contract, can leave when they please and are not subjected to rigorous lessons and training like they do in kpop. Therefore when they debut they owe JE nothing and just get paid their regular salary.

They're probably a fan of the groups in the company. Kind of like how there are YG family and SM Town fans. Not much people are a fan of the actual man for a variety of reasons.

They are different to NCT as NCT seems to be a rotational type of group.Think of them like a normal kpop company which only debuts male groups so just like how SM has multiple groups under their roster so does JE they just do it on a much larger scale as the company is so huge. Imagine one company owning 85% of all popular male idol groups.

NCT is more of a male version of AKB in my opinion.

Johnnys is a nickname for a talent agency Johnny & Associates and for talent represented by them. They itself are a male idol management agency, not a label, though they own several labels that their talent belongs to (like JE - Johnny's Entertainment and J Storm). But people represented by them are also signed to other labels. Idols under them don't just belong to groups, there are also soloists and some that are purely actors.

The trainees are called Johnnies Juniors and they are not necessarily young kids, though they usually start young. Debut is more of a lucky chance than a certainty. They have something like a hundred people as Juniors, probably more, but there's a lot of fluctuation - people leave and join; the contracts only get rock-solid once they debut and while we don't know a lot about them we know they are shorter than kpop ones and then they negotiate each new one. A lot of trainees end up as managers , dancers, take on bit roles - or they simply leave. In main difference with kpop and most other entertainment industries it's not a profit sharing scheme, but the debuted idols are employees of the company that get a salary (so they get paid even when they are not making money at all and on the other hand they are not super-rich even if their group alone makes more revenue than than most kpop agencies). Of course the most successful idols are paid a lot more than the not successful ones. One the + side, that means the company is vested in getting jobs for all the talent they manage. They also don't treat idols like they are past expiry date - they proved a group can do well in their 40 if they are managed properly and given appropriate jobs.

The main money maker is not music, even for the idols that are technically in music groups and sell heaps of records and hold sold-out dome concerts.  Main money comes from TV (hosting, variety, dramas) and commercials.

They are known for not being a fan of direct competition, they (as in the company) often bargins with it's idols, from 'bundling/package-dealing' them by sending another idol with the idol a drama/show actually wants, to get the lesser known/newer idols jobs&exposure. J&A forbids public SNS presence for its idols, forbids taking pictures of its idols (though paparazzi do it all the time). The idols generally don't do handshakes or such organised direct-contact events. The company is very good at removing content from the YT. Music videos are not posted publicly. Concert tickets are lottery (literally). You have to enter a lottery for a chance to buy a ticket. Re-sell value for some of the more hard to get to groups are astronomical, though J&A fights a hard battle against re-sellers and scalpers.
