If someone acted like a complete asshole but you know it had something to deal with mental illness would you be angry at that person?

If someone you knew were having severe problems with their mental health and starting pushing people away and being isolated, yelling and screaming hateful and mean things at friends, snapping and lashing out at everything you say, and the person isn't normally like that, would you blame them for it or blame it on the mental illness?

If they are doing this because of the mental illness then of course I can be upset by the things that are said if they were hurtful, but instead of being angry at them - shouldn't the focus be on helping them get to a better place, instead?

Is this about the rob and blac chyna situation? If so, she had the right to leave especially when she has kids.

Mental illness shouldn't be an excuse at all. That should be a sign to get all the help you can get because you end up pushing away and hurting loved ones

Are they in complete control of their actions? No. But if they are if it is to the point where it interferes with their daily life and they aren't seeking the proper help, then yes to some extent are accountable. They can't continue on like that and be a part of society. Encourage them to seek professional help, but while you should support them as they seek help and to be better, you aren't responsible for them and don't have to put up with abuse.

First of all, what kind of mental illness? Dealing with autism-derived anger is a wholly different thing than, say, dealing with scizophrenia rage.

Second of all, I don't blame people with mental illness since I'm one too and I know it really, really sucks to be in a condition like that, but...

It's people's prerogative to avoid, be mad or don't interact with a person with mental illness if that person has done the things you've described (screaming hateful things, etc) and they don't have any obligation whatsoever towards that person to help him/her.
