The Official KARD (카드) Thread // RED MOON

Recommended Posts

SOO, joining the thread~ hello everyone! ^^

anyways, it looks like DSP is waiting for some sort of "go" signal before they put K.A.R.D on music shows. The reaction internationally is pretty good for a debut, but domestic promotions don't look very good atm. They didn't enter the Melon Chart at all as far as I know and, just for reference, I believe April entered Melon's TOP 50 before.

During the Vlive, KARD said they wanted to go on music shows, but they need the fan's support. Nassun explained, during the debut party, that a co-ed group isn't common and many people told him that there is a reason why co-ed groups aren't popular, but he ignored it and produced KARD(bless him omg). They're probably taking a risk in investing in KARD, so they didn't "fully" give them the debut support they gave April.

But how is KARD suppose to get their name around..? Vlives aren't gonna do it and I hope DSP have some other promotion method >.> The promotion on Cultwo show ain't gonna cut it. do some work, dsp

They haven't.. debuted.. technically. They'll do 3 KARD projects with hidden members on each song before officially having their debut in 2017, after that they'll appear on music shows.

Source? As far as I know, that hasn't been confirmed yet and it's only a rumor right now. Probably only a rumor because DSP doesn't wanna make any promises.

I really hope someone can translate the full article though.

I think they are still deciding if it's a 4 or 7 member group but I'm pretty sure in the article says there will be 3 projects before the official debut.

Only translating the part with DSP's response because there has been a lot of confusion. If anyone has DSP's official statement about K.A.R.D on their website that needs translating, link me~

“아티스트 그룹 ‘K.A.R.D’는 ì´ 3ë‹¨ê³„ì— ê±¸ì¹œ í•˜ë‚˜ì˜ í”„ë¡œì íŠ¸ë¡œ 진행ë˜ë©° 매 앨범마다 히든 멤버가 있다.

"Artist group, KARD, will have a total of three releases in the span of this project and every release there will be a hidden member. The last card "D" will show an unpredictable display of music and performance. -Next line is just DSP being extra with their words and asking for people to waiting with expectation; nothing else about a seven member group-"

So yes, there will be more hidden members, but there is no full seven member group after the three features. That is only a rumor. I don't even think that's possible because, if you see DSP groups, they try to make a group that is "correct" for the group concept (ie: Hara/Jiyoung's addition to Kara's cute concept). Youngji is still KARA and not a part of K.A.R.D. Chaewon, Oh Jong Hyuk, Kasper, A-JAX members or any possible hidden card candidates will not be KARD members.

You can think of hidden card = feature/collab-ish, but really a way to promote K.A.R.D

So here is my conclusion as of now:

  1. KARD is a not a project group, but a four member official group).
  2. KARD's hidden member card releases before debut is the project. The project before their "full debut".
  3. DSP isn't incapable of putting them on music shows. Look at April, they get on music shows just fine. But getting them on stage does require investment such as the stage, outfits, back up dancers, and etc so they're not "fully debuting" KARD with no public or fan support.
  4. DSP's hidden card isn't really to help them musically or performance-wise(that's just fancy talk on DSP's end), but it's to help them promote the group using their artist's names. On Melon, Youngji's name is in the song title "Oh Nana (Hidden. Heo Youngji)" Pretty obvious they're using her name.
  5. You can see that DSP isn't really investing in KARD's debut atm. Their small debut stage. Their MV (no built sets like Kara's Step which cost around 94k. Only aesthetic bg, light work, and editing magic). A-JAX debuted with an expensive MV too. Again, not a "full" debut. A co-ed group is still a risk. Even big companies don't make co-ed groups, but projects with established artists. I don't blame them for playing it safe.

Thanks. Do you know how they are doing in the charts in Korea? How are their sales? I know that they got positive responses from k-netz, but this doesn't transtale into money.

If they don't sell well, I fear the groups will disband.

I don't really follow the charts well, but there are Korean fans that do and so far they haven't even charted on Melon. I believe they charted on Soribada(sp?), Genie, and Mnet chart. The album isn't being sold, so no physical sales. If it was being sold, I would've bought one TT TT

Yeah, not doing very well in Korea digitally, but they're doing okay on itunes kpop charts internationally. Not really educated on the merit of charts, but at least it shows they do have a kpop international response and it is not only response thru social sites.

Someone kindly put together their itunes kpop chart position on youtube ^^

ALSO!

Nassun is a producer, but he is also a rapper himself. He featured in Lee Hyori's U-Go-Girl and did a song with Seungyeon before. From what I saw at the debut party, Nassun helped produce K.A.R.D as a group (concepts, members, etc). He also helped write the lyrics with BM and J. Seph.

Lastly, J. Seph has quite a number of male k-fans x)

K-fans aren't fandom streaming "Oh Na Na" because they haven't "fully" debuted(music shows appearances, public broadcasts and etc).

Digital sales and physical copies were the biggest factors in winning awards in 2009 and back, but around the popularity of Gee and Sorry Sorry, the public broadcast music shows changed the percentage weighing and made digital sales even MORE weighted partly because of the consecutive wins through fandom bulk buying.

Idk if Wildkards will do this, but TIMED fandom streaming and bulk buying physical copies helps to win awards on music shows. Kamilia's did it with Kara's Lupin and Kara was able to sweep all the public music awards for one week and won awards for the next 2-3(?) weeks(triple crown for music bank I think) Kara was popular enough, but fans streamed and bought albums "equally" throughout the promotion period to get more awards. Idk if fandoms do that anymore...

I'm not sure if Wildkards will be as "expertise" at setting something up like the whole fandom bulk buying and streaming at a certain time tho. Just a random thought

This why DSP should promote them on music shows D:

Anyways no hidden member ? I think they dropped this idea or something cuz we haven't heard anything about next hidden member

Nah, no hidden member this time around, but a hidden track.

I wonder how long DSP will keep up with this "hidden" charades tho. I actually thought they would follow through.

Hi everyone, just passed by to say Don't recall is a true slayage :ahmagah:

I wanna ask smt, so according to other thread they will release hidden ver 2 weeks later? So there will be a brand new MV w a hidden mem right?

And how long will this project thing last? Does the hidden mem count as official mem? Or the official team is just 4 mems, hidden mem is just like a guest each comeback?

Its unlikely that the hidden ver will be a brand new mv w/ a new hidden member. They hinted it was a present for international fans who supported them. If my memory is right, this is a 3 part project so there should be one more release until their official debut. But idk what dsp's plan is tbh.

Official team is definitely 4 members as of now and any hidden members are just like features.
