They got placed into units while they were competing, some entire units being eliminated, drama happened shit didn't go as planned excuses were made some of the others got to come back and now they are in their units performing every week until next year where a few get picked to become the final boy group. They thread still updates with the performances,they even released songs for each unit. The entire thing majorly flopped in every way so I'm not surprised you haven't heard about it. Will there be some removals after this 'debut' process to form an actual group? Will there always be multiple units promoting at different times (if so, why aren't they just a different boy group rather than a subunit of NCT?)? Are all the male SM rookies part of NCT? starseeker 1,293 Posted November 28, 2016 Share Posted November 28, 2016 SJ started off as 12 Kyuhyun was added so they became 13 Zhoumi and Henry were supposed to join but bad fans stopped them so they only became part of SJM Hangeng left in 2009 and Kibum went on hiatus until he left in 2015 So technically there are 11 official members and 2 additional members (fans count Zhoumi and Henry as part of the group bc they deserve it) (Fans made up Prom15e to 13elieve to show support for ALL members) NCT is a versatile group that has a bunch of subunits Most of the members of NCT were introduced during SMrookies Eventually ALL SMrookies introduced will debut. The system was designed to experiment will different concepts and music styles. SM picks the idols that suit the concept or sound the best which is why members like Taeyong and Mark are in multiple units (NCT Dream has a little kid concept because they are the youngest members) The NCT system is a lot like a charm bracelet (sorry its the first thing I thought of lol). You have a lot of charms in storage but you only can put on a few at a time. NCT is like that, they have a lot of idols under the name of NCT but they can only debut a few at a time. Also on a charm bracelet, you can interchange the charms. With NCT you can interchange the members in a subunit. So the current lineup for NCT U might not be the same next comeback.
