Taeyeon "Trust and Listen [to] Taeng? It's Burdensome, but I'm Confident in My Music"

With solo songs, OSTs, broadcasts, and CFs, Taeyeon was busy during 2016. It was to the point where there were 'monthly Taeyeon' evaluations for the results she gave every month. Taeyeon spent this year in full.

"I think I had a lot of activities this year, to the point where people around me asked, 'Why are you working so hard?'. With other Girls' Generation members being busy with solo activities, I felt I needed to adjust too. I also got the feeling of wanting to challenge myself. Fortunately, the response was good, so I'm just grateful."

In February, Taeyeon opened up SM Station with 'Rain', and pulled off various genres with her solo singles 'Why' and '11:11'. Not only that, but she also stood out with her CM songs and OSTs, 'The Blue Night of Jeju Island' and 'All With You'. Taeyeon released a number of songs this year, but there aren't any that share the same feeling.

"I, personally, don't care if a song with a similar flow comes out again. If there's a song that I want to let people hear, feel good about, or want to express, I just carry on with it. But I think the staff around me think, 'Let's show something different', so I've been following their views. I've tried various genres while promoting with Girls' Generation, so I've been working easily."

Also, Taeyeon has shown her different colors this year through collaborations with popular musicians such as f(x)'s Amber, Crush, and DEAN. There's a bigger meaning to these opportunities, as it allowed her to show charms other than what's shown as a Girls' Generation member, or a soloist.

"I really liked their vocal tones, so I worked with them. They're stylish and trendy. It's amazing seeing such great performances and songs from people who are younger than me. It makes me think, 'What have they experienced? Where do they get their influence from? How can they express things so admirably? To the point where I'd really like to interview them."

Taeyeon's as humble and careful as ever. Even though she has a large fandom, has mass appeal, and shows good results no matter what she does, she said, "I haven't had a moment of satisfaction yet." This seemed to imply that's how strict she is to herself.

"I'm still very scared. So I don't think there's been a moment where I've felt, 'Wow, I just did that!'. This year too, I think I was kind of cautious? Even while doing a concert or other activities, I felt sad like, 'Should I have shown/done more?'. Instead of compliments such as, 'You're the best', I endlessly think about things like, 'Let's try doing a little more'."

Modifiers such as 'music queen' and 'trust and listen [to] Taeng' make Taeyeon stronger. It is burdensome at times, but it becomes a driving force for her.

"I don't obsess over ranks. I'm just communicating with fans through my music. Isn't determining whether I succeeded or failed based on those results a bit much? It's not like I'm going to release one song and never release one again. I'm happiest when I hear compliments on my tone. I really really like the modifier 'trust and listen to Taeng'. After showing consistently good results, it has become a bit of a burden, but I'm confident in continuing to letting people listen to good music. There are lots of genres in the world, so I think I just need to show a variety of things. When I have you listen to a song, there are going to be people who like it, as well as some who don't. Everyone has their own preferences. So I think my job is to present a song that fits the mood accordingly, and slowly satisfy one person at a time."

What Taeyeon emphasized was 'sincerity'. "If you perform and sing sincerely, that feeling gets delivered." Taeyeon's confession showed the gratefulness, affection, and trust in her fans.

"I really felt 'all of my feelings get conveyed when I sing sincerely' when I met eye-to-eye with fans and conversed with them through concerts this year. In the past, I couldn't look my fans in their eyes because I was embarrassed, but I'm a little better at it now. The effect that follows after looking each fan in their eyes is great. I want to show a better me through year-end award show stages and concerts next year."

"I ran mindlessly for 10 years."

Taeyeon, who worked hard this year, has completed preparing to work just as hard, if not more, next year. First of all, approximations for next year's plans are complete. Things just have to go as planned. Of course, work on her new album is going smoothly.

"I'm planning on being busy next year, too. I don't really like resting. Even though I'm a homebody, I'm not just constantly lying around at home. I'm always doing something. I think I get lazy if I rest for too long."

Taeyeon promised to repay fans with a nice concert next year.

"What's expected from singers are concerts, right? Thanks to fans, I was able to complete concerts in a big way this year. Olympic Hall in itself holds a big meaning for me. I want to consistently release season songs too. So I think I would be happy if I could periodically hold concerts with themes according to the seasons."

This past July, Taeyeon revealed her self-composed/written song 'Pray' at her first solo concert, and received a hot response. Through this stage, Taeyeon showed her potential, not just as a singer, but as a singer-songwriter. We asked Taeyeon about her thoughts on 'self-composition/writing', and any greed regarding it.

"I don't have much greed in showing my self-compositions/writings yet. I'm happy to be able to express songs created by good composers, and have that opportunity. I feel joy when I see them being satisfied with it."

After walking these past 10 years up to this year, Taeyeon promised to continue to show herself as 'singer Taeyeon' to fans and the general public.

"If I ran mindlessly the past then years, it feels like I'm running with a clear mind now. I've become relaxed, and the experiences I've had thus far are helping a lot. Next year, I want to become someone who wants to make calm choices and have careful thoughts."

 #nofun #baking #bucketlist ... Taeyeon's Daily Life?

Articlehttp://www.mydaily.co.kr/new_yk/html/read.php?newsid=201611261917101131

Well-known 'homebody' Taeyeon had various hobbies at home and completed her own bucket list. Her nail art, coloring books, makeup, and recently, baking, has been revealed through an internet broadcast.

In the midst of this, fans expressed, "We like your music, but want you to come on shows as well." Actually, while Taeyeon was active this year, she didn't make many appearances on music or variety shows.

"I didn't have any broadcast activities with my most recent song '11:11', and I only went on music shows for one week with 'Why' because of concert preparations, so I think fans could feel sad. I do feel like there wasn't enough communications with them and was worried, so I recently revealed a live video, and I'm planning on meeting with fans more through concerts."

However, she's still careful about acting and variety shows.

"Super Junior's Heechul oppa told me to come on 'Knowing Bros', but I just want to watch it from the perspective of a viewer. I remember having fun doing skits as a radio DJ until 2010, and my appearances on variety shows decreased a lot since ending my radio show. After that, I couldn't help but rest from variety shows because of Girls' Generation's overseas activities. So I think, 'What can I do on variety shows now? I'm no fun...'."

Taeyeon spends a lot of time at home, and she's been working hard to fulfill her bucket list that she created this year. She set goals such as baking and walking a lot, and is attempting them one by one. She, unexpectedly, worked out to prepare for her concert this past summer.

"This past summer, I worked hard on weight training. I'm someone who would never do that, but I attempted to exercise myself. I usually rode in the car with my manager driving, so I didn't have many times to walk, but I tried walking to nearby places myself. I was really thin before so I was worried. To the point where I wondered, 'Is there something wrong with me?'. But when I turned 28, my body started gaining weight on its own. It was interesting."

With her new song release coming up, Taeyeon had an online broadcast with a baking concept. She was running all over the place and caused lots of laughter. She was in a daze trying to introduce her new song and bake at the same time, in such a short amount of time.

"I'm normally good at baking. But rather than creating the batter and stuff, I like decorating more. It's fun. I wasn't able to do the broadcast well because my head was all over the place, but I think I'll have to do it again to regain my reputation."

Taeyeon introduced herself as a 'morning person'. Celebrities usually have irregular lifestyles, but Taeyeon wakes up early in the morning and starts her day watching headline news programs. Taeyeon is running with the ease of someone who debuted 10 years ago.

Meanwhile, Taeyeon has been working on preparing year-end award show performances. This coming December 2nd, Taeyeon is planning on attending 2016 MAMA in Hong Kong. She's working out schedules following it.

"I felt I needed to adjust too. I also got the feeling of wanting to challenge myself. Fortunately, the response was good, so I'm just grateful."

Taeyeon understands the power of gratitude and the power of continually improving oneself.

"I really liked their vocal tones, so I worked with them...To the point where I'd really like to interview them."

Taeyeon keeps her sense of curiosity and awe about the musicians around her.

"I haven't had a moment of satisfaction yet...Let's try doing a little more"

Taeyeon doesn't rest on her laurels.

"I don't obsess over ranks. I'm just communicating with fans through my music. Isn't determining whether I succeeded or failed based on those results a bit much?"

Taeyeon knows how the game of ranks and charts play and she prefers something higher: Music connectivity.

"There are lots of genres in the world, so I think I just need to show a variety of things."

Expect more good music from Taeyeon and it's a great thing. She has the motivation and the talent and we have the blessings to hear her try out different music.

This much maturity and humbleness after 9+ years in the entertainment industry is nice to see! Though one would definitely mature in that time period, but people can also become too arrogant, I'm glad that taeyeon has retained her humbleness and her willingness to always learn and improve. Her curiosity hasn't been squashed yet with cynicism and that's a major feat for any seasoned professional.

I'm really happy she's taking care of her health as well. Also seems she addressed the entire variety show issues, lol her going on "Knowing Bros " would have been fun but I get how she just wants to remain a viewer . She's very down to earth regarding her musicality and I really like that about her. She deserves all the accolades though. Really excited about what she brings out next time!.

I love Taeyeon's interviews: she is always humble and well spoken and you can really see how much she loves music. She always says good things about the other artists she worked with and praises them a lot; she should start to be more confident of herself, but she's working hard also on this side, taking care of her health and accepting more challenges: I still remember the time when she was worried about her ability to have a solo project and staying on a stage alone, and look at her now ;;
