Did anyone pick up on this in 2012?

So I made a flop thread earlier asking if anyone had 2012 sales data for hanteo (saved off of hallyu8 or whatever, since I didn't retrieve it from the google cache in time), but eventually I just went looking for images since ppl tend to take screenshots of the yearly sales or make charts or something.  Anyway, part of the reason is probably as one might suspect given current events, the other was that I wanted to know how b.a.p sold back then, but neither is the point of this thread.

So this came off a nu'est fansite or something (judging by the url, but I didn't actually go to look at it), which is why nu'est is circled:

739683_414344765316140_1341281859_o.jpg%

And I was like "sigh, b.a.p isn't on here... well, their hanteo-gaon ratio isn't that close to 1 and Warrior only sold ~35k on Gaon in 2012 anyway... gee, I don't remember nu'est selling 29k... oh."

Gaon sales: July 15,564 - August 2,649 - September 659 - October dnc (623) - November 770

November was the last month it charted in the top 100 and the cumulative total then (which I used to calculate October) was 20,265.  On the year-end chart, the total was 20,770 (so I guess they might have shipped 505 in December, but the yearly numbers don't always match the december cumulative numbers (if there is one) so who knows).

Anyway... what do you think was up with this?  Surely Pledis didn't think Nu'est had a shot in hell of winning a music show (and there were fewer shows with awards at the time anyway) in their first year, on their second promo, did they?

Aren't everyone also suspicious about Nu'est's youtube views counts too...?

Loen wouldn't be the one responsible for it.

Ah okay.

If Pledis were responsible for the manipulation though, wouldn't they at least do it on the official channel (Pledisnuest)? All the music videos on there have less than 1 million views each lmao.

It has 23 million views and is LOEN's most viewed video :derp:

But the views are consistent, just very high per day. It doesn't make much sense. That's almost as much as B2ST's Fiction.

And 149k likes...

(Huh... was Face before youtube made changes to their policies on what counts as an actual view, or...?)

I dunno, did the pledisnuest channel exist from the very beginning and they uploaded the MV in both places?  Or is Face only on the Loen channel?

If it's only for Face like the user upthread says, maybe they decided the return on investment wasn't high enough, or that there wasn't a point.  Or maybe it was Loen, and they were doing it for the ad revenue!  :ahmagah:

Hello Venus's views for Venus (3.5M) are also significantly higher than What are you doing today/Would you stay for tea (~700k), but maaaaaybe just because they debuted with some furor.  Or maybe not, I dunno.

NU'est was pretty popular when they first debuted... //shrug

That doesn't explain anything.  You cannot sell more copies of an album (Hanteo) than have been shipped to stores by the distributor (Gaon), unless a bunch of people return theirs.

Older videos tend to have quite a bit more views for several reasons. Mostly the change in view count and that they've just been around longer, so the views build up. And for some of the more popular groups they could get on the front page of youtube easier some years ago.

Both versions of Face were released to both channels on the same day (March 14th. I just checked). And the one on Pledisnuest has 540K views lol.

Venus has those views because it was a flawless debut (imo). What Are You Doing Today sucked and Would You Stay For Tea was bland.

And yeah I don't think that chart in the OP is legit......

I'm not sure if the chart is legit, because other images I found (before getting this one) for 2012 didn't go down that far... because they were from fansites of groups that rank higher and they don't care about going down that low. XD;  The top does match what those other images say, though.  But honestly, I doubt the nu'est fansite made it up, or that the weibo source did.

Should be legit.  Busker Busker were super popular in 2012, and international fans don't care about them.  Still, their Gaon December cumulative total was 135k.

It's rare to see Hanteo and GAON numbers being that close except for groups with tons of fansigns.

Well, ratio is 81%.  CYP last year was... Hanteo 176k, Gaon 251k = 70%.  Well, CYP is older and could have more of an international fanbase, or maybe BuBu did do some fansign-type things. <shrugs>
