Do you think white privilege actually exists?

This concept came up between me and my close friends and they're very sure and convinced that the concept of "white privilege" exists. I do not believe that. I do not believe that white people have any significant advantage over people of colour simply because of the colour of their skin. Racism as an ever present dominating factor in society as a whole and the idea that "the white man" is out get minorities and people of colour is ridiculous for me.

I'm a Jamaican born Canadian and my friends are Canadians with Jamaican backgrounds -- we're all black.

What do you guys think?

White privilege exists and I say this as a white person lol There are things I don't have to worry about that my friends of color do and it is because of the color of their skin. Racism is institutionalized and that makes it even scarier because to a lot of people it's just normal. But my friends fear for their lives more often than they should have to and that's all the proof I need.

I don't feel any white privilege, because where I live we don't confront with racial issues.

since white people form the vast majority and 99,9% of black people established here are highly educated, there is no racial profiling, I mean people hold no negative stereotype about black persons, no stereotype about race.

It does, but not in the way people think it does.

As a black person, I really only think of White Privilege as the difference between walking into a room wearing a nice shirt or walking into a room wearing an average shirt. Its a bit of a one-up, but not something lifechanging.

I think its more psychological than anything, so its not like there is anything society can really do to change it? which is why I don't mind it.

I don't think this is an example of "white privilege", it just shows you how asian idolize white people's looks because they think they're ideal. A "blind worship to anything seen as superior to yourself"--- not white privilege when dominantly white cultures were dominating and advancing socioeconomically when China wasn't

if you say racism is institutionalized, you have to point out which institutions are actually racist, that's the only way to actually change anything. And I don't think racism is normalized either, if it was there wouldn't be laws against discrimination - allowing people to actually sue if they think you're discriminating based on the colour of their skin.

Your friends fear for their lives because they actually think this exists and that they're victims this thing they'll never be able to fight or overcome.

It exists, and you'd have to be blind not to see it
