5 Year Anniversary Of This Amazing Solo That Was So good It Got Banned!

5 years ago at the age of 19 Lovelyz leader Baby Soul came out with this amazing track. It was about taking a guy to task for never being there for her which was apparently too groundbreaking and got banned.  Her next mv "She's a Flirt" was lesbian themed. Queen of saying it like it is and breaking boundaries. When will Woollim ever get their act together so I can finally hear this live???

The singer ‘Baby Soul’ (19·Lee Soojung)’s first digital single ‘No Better Than Strangers’ got caught under KBS’ review.

KBS forbid Baby Soul’s single title track ‘No Better Than Strangers’ to broadcast because its lyrics included words that belittled men.

'You can't even do this you jerk, am I asking for something big? You can't even do this you wicked man, you should at least pretend' is the problematic part.

Her company Woollim entertainement declared “It’s only realistic lyrics relating the feelings of a woman resentful toward a man, we didn’t intend to belittle men at all†and “It’s confusing but we won’t be changing the lyricsâ€. 'No Better Than Strangers' was written by Sweetune who also participated in the groups 'Infinite' and 'Karaâ€s album. It received a lot of attention since the singer Wheesung featured in it before going to the army.

Gosh I remember being so obsessed with this song when it came out. I always wondered what happened to her and then randomly stumbled upon a Lovelyz mv...it was a little surprising to say the least lol :D

They really did her so wrong with her hair in this mv lol but I've replayed this song in my itunes so many times. Always supporting Baby Soul & Lovelyz  :chu:

It was a really amazing song, her vocals sounded really good and the MV was beautiful.
I really also hope to hear her sing the song live in the future.
I hope that Baby Soul can get to do another solo like this in the future, this style of the song really suits her voice.
Actually I wish that she would given more of an opportunity to do some solo performances on radio, V Lives, TV, etc...
On another note, like in She's a Flirt, Yoo Jia was really gorgeous in the MV. Wish that she had stayed at Woollim.

Totally agree. No better than strangers was a masterpiece. In fact I'm listening to it while typing this out when it's on shuffle mode. Is this destiny? When I first heard it, loved the melody and overall sound though I don't understand Korean. Found the lyrics, loved it even more. One of the strongest lyrics of a Korean song I have heard and it's totally befitting of its storyline. I don't always agree with woollim but I'm all with woollim to stand by their decision not to change the lyrics just to cater to the overall public. If public TV cant accept it as it is, it's their loss and a loss for Korean music industry. Too bad they will never know about this gem.
