I mean, I think people kind of forget to put things into perspective though. It's not only because EXO lost the award but because ever since last year there have been some EXO-antis saying BTS was going to overthrow EXO etc etc etc and therefore the moment an award goes to BTS instead of EXO, more than wanting the award for themselves, fans get in an uproar because they don't want the antis to feel empowered. It's not because BTS is BTS, it's not because of the group itself, but rather because of antis naming them an the #1 threat against EXO.

 

Not by coincidence, before ArOTY was announced, there were a lot of people tweeting that "EXO was over" because BTS had won AOTY. After EXO won ArOTY these crticisms got buried ofc but this is the true tension underneath... So more than not wanting BTS to have it, I think EXO fans just want to prove EXO was a very strong candidate for the award and that this isn't to be used as proof of EXO losing any steam....

Not for this album, surely? I mean, I remember a pann post talking about how BigHit had changed headquarters or rebuilt it idk and how the new practice rooms were so much better and everything. They're obviously banking some cash right now.... Not saying they bought the award but when fans fall into this kind of reasoning it's just....

 

Besides BigHit is not that poor a company. I mean, more than money itself, connections are important. Look at GFriend... They had very simple, even poor-looking outfits at the beginning but since their CEO is originally from SM he had some serious connections and managed to have Yerin guesting on Running Man very early in their careers. For BigHit, their CEO is originally from JYP so he knows people. BTS won some Rookie Awards in 2013. It might have been a slow year idol debuting-wise but no super small company manages to get those awards tbh.
