INTERVIEW

Geek Magazine Interview #Taemin

Q: It is already a new year, what do you wish to do?
Taemin: I want to have my own studio. It will be nice to have my own private space when I want to organize or recall my thoughts. If I have a work room, I will probably be able to write good songs or learn more about music faster. For now, what is greater than my desire to present my own work onstage is the wish to become an artist with my own style.

Q: What is your personal wish?
Taemin: To have a spontaneous vacation (i.e the say go then immediately just go kind). On a day when my friends are all free and just set off. Walking around on a bustling street can also become a rest time. Having a satisfying vacation doesn't need to involve an amazing place or detailed planning beforehand. Just thinking about escaping from life for a while already makes me excited.

Q: What does WGM mean to you?
Taemin: To put it nicely, I'm really not good at matters which involve pleasing the opposite gender. Not only that, it is very awkward to be around such people. In the past, I don't express myself that much and from this variety show, I have also learnt how to express my feelings.

Q: In WGM, you gave off the image of being able to express your feelings really well
Taemin: Is that really how you see it? (Ha ha ha) In actual fact, I like to have direct and straightforward conversations with my friends. I am more used to conversations between males which just involve me asking a question in one sentence and the other party just simply giving his answer.

Q: How do you feel being a widely recognized idol?
Taemin: It is a very amazing thing. There is the nervousness aspect, especially when we received the 'Artist of the Year' award last year. At the moment of thinking whether we can get the award, I was completely frozen. While being happy for having that kind of qualification, I feel at a loss at the same time.During overseas performances, when I see the fans who give so much attention, it is a familiar and mysterious feeling and it can also be said that it is a reality which is not easily believable.

Q: With all these (being a widely recognized idol), do you feel sad sometimes?[/background]
Taemin: Of course, there are times when I get upset and also times when I feel the burden. I'm really thankful but gratefulness alone is not enough and I want to do better and set more goals. I do not want to care about thoughts such as "How is my popularity like now; How much love have I received" and I try my best because I just want to do even better.

-UPDATED with the rest of the interview:

I didn’t see the translation for these Q & A so I thought I would translate them. They are not as polished and eloquent as the ones provided by sweeetbulletaem and squishyjinki, but hopefully, you can get the gist of them until sweeetbulletaem and squishyjinki publish a more polished version.

Q: At some point, SHINee, including Taemin, earned a reputation of being one step beyond idols. Do yourselves feel the same?

A: We were not active domestically for a year due to our overseas activities. During that time, SHINee and I grew a lot. We learned a lot while performing on big stages and big concerts repeatedly. One by one, our stage continues to be packed with each additional thing we learn. Now we are strategizing to advance one more step. I want to fill a stage by myself. I performed a

by myself at a concert and I was very happy. In future, if I become more skilled, wouldn’t it be possible for me to perform well without getting intimidated regardless of how big the stage is?

Q: Now that we’ve been talking, it seems that you have many worries about “My Ownâ€.

A: I am really happy to be part of SHINee with members, but every now and then I want to do everything in my style. Just like SHINee as a group has a distinct characteristics (color), I want to find my own characteristics (color). Doesn’t becoming a man mean the journey to find one’s own characteristics (color)? My dream is to try “Until there are no regrets.†Until now, SHINee relentlessly tried various music without rest. Genres were difficult, and dancing and singing at the same time was overwhelming. Sometimes, I would initially question, “Is this possible?†but it turns out it really is possible. During past activity as a singer, I repeatedly realized that it's possible if you try.

That 1st pic, shock to the system :raep:  I love interviews, such mature and insightful answers. I'm glad they don't restrict themselves by thinking of having bigger concerts, selling more, putting such concrete goals. But it's more about inproving themselves on a personal level, improving their skills. great

Q: With all these (being a widely recognized idol), do you feel sad sometimes?

So proud, I hope all of them go foreward with this mindset even though there is competition in the entertainment industry :P

So mature and humble. He's just so inspirational and ugh. I feel like a proud mama even though I'm younger than him

"...what is greater than my desire to present my own work onstage is the wish to become an artist with my own style."

"I do not want to care about thoughts such as "How is my popularity like now; How much love have I received" and I try my best because I just want to do even better."

Great mindset and work ethic. So ambitious and it's awesome! If he continues to push himself like this, there's no doubt in my mind that he'll have a bright future.

i can stare at his lips forever  :ahmagah:

What a grounded child. You'll definitely go far, <333

I really love how great he improved, with this mindset.

I wanna include this too:

I just read this news article and related comments about Tarmin's appearance in Immortal a Song 2 and thought I would share. http://news.naver.com/main/read.nhn?mode=LSD&mid=sec&sid1=106&oid=117&aid=0002419540

+1165, -29. 노력하면 다 ëœë‹¤ëŠ”걸 보여준 대표ì ì¸ 예가 태민ì´ì§€.
Taemin is the poster child who showed anything is possible if you try.

+1070, -33. 태민 ì´ì   종현 파트까지 소화 가능하ë˜ë°... ë°ë·”ì´ˆ ìƒê°í•˜ë©´ 진짜..ã„·ã…‡
Now Taemin can even sing Jonghyun's part.....really if I think about debut...

+940, -23. ì–¼ë§ˆì „ì— ìƒ¤ì´ë‹ˆ ë°ë·”초무대를 ë´¤ëŠ”ë° ì–˜ 파트 ë‘ì†Œì ˆì€ ìžˆì—ˆë‚˜?

Not long ago I watched SHINee debut stage and he had 2 verses? He couldn't sing and only danced on stage. Not long ago I saw their performance during Everybody activity, and his singing ability improved amazing amount. Not as much as Jonghyun (I think s/he means as good as) but still well. Anyway I am not a fan but it was really surprising.

+849, -23. 태민 노래 진짜 ë§Žì´ ëŠ˜ì—ˆìŒ. í•ìƒ ë…¸ë ¥í•˜ëŠ” ëª¨ìŠµì´ ë³´ìž„. 태민 í™”ì´íŒ…!
Taemin's singing really improved a lot. It shows that he works hard all the time. Taemin, fighting!

+841, -31. 탑ì€ì•„니지만 왠만한 ë‚¨ìž ì•„ì´ëŒë³´ë‹¤ 나ì€ê±´ 사실
He is not the best but it's true that he is better than most male idols.

I particularly like the third comment because it sounds like a general public wrote the comment and not a fan...it's always a good thing when SHINee and/or members get recognition from general public.

You inspire me, Taemin  :ahmagah:  :ahmagah:
