Seeing that picture of the staff pouring hot water at Baek Jinhee made me remember they filmed this drama during the freezing winter... and they have scenes swimming in the sea yikes I can't imagine the coldness.

Kinda Sad that not many ppl treasure this drama :._.:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGXSBut8Kdc

What happened? Reviews aren't out yet because the drama hasn't aired yet right? Or are we talking about last night's special ep rating?

Eitherway, I really love what am I seeing from the special ep. And it's interesting how the love triangle seems to happen between the second couple instead of the usual main couple (i think, I streamed the special ep and haven't watched the sub lol).

Also love love love how there seems to be two separate timelines with the current investigating the truth behind the tragedy and the past slowly unveiling what actually happened to the castaways, most likely told from Baek Jinhee's pov. There's also the possibility that Baek Jinhee might not be a reliable narrator so her recounts of the events happening on the island are not the absolute truths but I'm getting ahead of myself here.

As you can see I absolutely love thriller and mystery and I'm so excited that Missing 9 seems to be doing something different for a kdrama, but I understand this might not appeal to a wider audience, so I'm not expecting much rating-wise ;_; but I'm definitely pumped to follow this drama in the next 2-3 months.

Nah nvm bout it, i guess i said gibberish words before :hurr:

and yeah your right.. the drama still not airing yet... as they showed a bit of highlights..

And speaking bout love triangle, am i the only one who seems the guy looks kinda old for LSB? compare to Taejoon lol

bout ratings of cause idrm but still..

...theres a SBS new historical drama, "Saimdang", which will replace LOTBS drama.

So i had a feeling that drama will be hit :imstupid:

Lmao yes I think so too, Oh Jung Se is supposed to be 39 while Lee Sun Bin is 26. But I still find it interesting because typically the love triangle in kdrama happens between er... for lack of better words, the attractive actors? Like you'd expect it to happen between Kyungho, Jinhee and Taejoon. Lmao not trying to say the manager guy is unattractive but I'm glad that for once the love triangle/unrequited love didn't happen just between the young and pretty, kinda makes it a lil bit realistic...

yes, I think that drama will probably do better too, it also doesn't help that missing 9 doesn't exactly have well-known cast (except maybe Kyungho?) haha so I'm not expecting much. Seems like MBC dramas don't do too well lately but despite the low rating, Weightlifting Fairy was still an enjoyable watch lol so I hope Missing 9 will also be the same.

im somewhat curious with their heights, is chanyeol taller than JKH?

C2EF7M9W8AAjBx3.jpg

In their profiles they should be around the same height (184-185 cm) but I feel like Chanyeol has grown slightly taller since debut and he just hasn't updated his profile because the rest of exo is er... rather short lol.

its kinda impossible to reach 20% :derp:

Loool let's just hope for the best. I even went and saw the writer's previous work - 38 Task Force last weekend and it's really good so far. The writer seems to have a knack of balancing comedy with the serious stuff so I hope it will be the same with Missing 9, especially after watching Kyunghos trailer.

I was a bit worried when I saw government conspiracy added to the mix while watching the special ep, because with the whole psychological survival theme going on already the drama's producer might be a bit too ambitious, but if this is the writer's forte I'm not so worried now ;;;

Really hope it'll be a success but if not at least we still have the story line to enjoy lol.

Not only 38 Task force, Bad guys drama also, (my fav drama tbvh) :chu:

Yup, 38 Task Force really makes me want to check out the rest of the writer's work! I think I'll add Bad Guys to my drama-to-watch list too.

I don't understand a single thing except when they said "legend entertainment" lmao but even without the sub it's so engaging???????

Just like in 38 Task Force, this writer is really good at balancing comedy with drama, I was laughing throughout the drama but then in the end the scene became quite dark........ but he did it in the way where the story line flowed seamlessly so you didn't feel as if the changing mood in the scenes were awkward or at odds with each other at all.

Tension between the cast are slowly building up and we even get some expositions to what happened in their past (a flashback within a flashback? Heh). All in all, I love the first ep, they definitely succeeded in capturing my interest to follow this drama.

(For real though, that ending was such a wtffffffff. I can't wait to see what happens in the next ep!!!!)

Watched the second episode and gah so many more questions raised:

Why didn't Jinhee (sorry I still can't remember everyone's name yet haha) tell the investigator they found Sunbin on the island? So I guess Ryu Won's character is really dead? I knew she's the prosecutor's sister but I thought her corpse would be disfigured or sth so they couldn't fully identify her but I guess now it's confirmed one of them died :( she was even murdered so that's pretty gruesome. And why is Legend entertainment so desperate to get Jinhee anyway? Is it because the current president has something to do with the accident? Or he just wanted to confirm if the last president is still alive?

I know, pointless questions because we're only in ep 2 and these will get answered sooner or later, but ugh a week for the next ep seems so long.

But if she jumped off the cliff and died because of that, her corspe wouldn't look like that. Her body would have been days travelling from the island to China. Is she looks like that, it means she died just a day or a few days before they found her. I don't really understand what happened. Or were they just super near to China? Gosh I really want to see a new episode

mte, if she died on the island and was washed ashore to one of the islands in China, surely her body would have rotted because of the water. But lmao I actually googled and it seems like the body can remain intact in cold water so that's a possibility..

[Drama Review] 'Missing 9' - Episode 2

lee-sun-bin_1484962059_2.jpg&key=4bb1821

Even from a viewer's point of view, I'm finding it a little difficult to completely take her story as real. My point goes along with the observation from episode 1, in that because a good part of the story is told from Bong Hee's memory, and memory tends to be selective and imaginative, even if Bong Hee doesn't mean to remember things the way she does, she could be leaving out important details. This is also a good time for me to again point out the slight difference in scene structure, with the two screen shots below:

lee-sun-bin_1484962012_4.jpg&key=79a0c23

In this scene, which is a foggy memory in Bong Hee's head, the screen becomes thinner, and you can see the MBC logo and the drama's title outside of the frame. When scenes become like this, how much of it is real?

lee-sun-bin_1484962014_5.jpg&key=0399ea9

This scene is a little tricky as well, since it is a scene that Lee Yeol (played by EXO's Chanyeol) told Bong Hee about instead of Bong Hee actually living it herself, but the main difference from the previous scene is that the logos sit inside the frame. The overall gray tone of the scene is still a big indicator to tell it apart from other scenes taking place in reality.

Most reviews seem to think the beige represents her memories and the vivid colour as the present time, but in the flash memories scenes in ep 2 she and other survivors were wearing vivid colours too. Is this her "real" memory then hahaha but anyway, really excited for the next episode! Thanks Francella as always for the constant updates! Edited by angg

Oooh so it's only been a week for our survivors and everybody is still full of hopes of being rescued, but what I love about this ep is how through Sohee, we have a premonition on how things could possibly turn out on that island. When everybody's life is on the line, can you truly trust anyone?

I wonder what exactly did she see in the forest...

Lmaooo he looks so confused when Jun Oh "fixed" his spelling.

The scene where they went looking for the leaves, Jun Oh on the landmine and the president meeting Bong Hee are so funny to me. How can a story where people trying to survive out of a plane crash be so funny?

I'm very disappointed in episode 3 It was beyond unrealistic, I cringed so hard during the storm scenes, sadly I lost count on how many times I had to roll my eyes...I'll just pretend it never happened.

Why is it so easy for them to find food on a supposedly deserted Island? the comedy they are going after can be underwhelming at times, the writers should have stopped digging humor out of every situation when it is nothing to laugh about. Not to mention an abandoned shelter in the woods?! rabbits?! intact floating suitcases packed with neat clothes?! the very obvious fake rain?! trees catching flames from a lightning bolt come on  and the list goes on..even someone who walked out of a fight would have looked way harmed than these survivors who happen to endure a major plane crash, Tae-hoo to state a few.

I find it so hard to look past these production/direction flaws no matter how engaging the plot might be, if it's poorly executed things will loose their credibility. That's the minimum they had to deliver, to make me as a viewer experience the hardships they had to go through battening the struggles of a wildlife on an uninhibited island. It looks more like a camping trip to me than anything.

I can't believe hell will break loose over a life boat, how cliche.~

I don't want to lose interest on this drama, I hope they had a clear vision as to where this is heading to, because it's all over the place for now.

Rather than focusing on the survival part, the drama has always been promoted as the psychology of human relationships, and it is doing just that. With the latest episodes of them finally meeting up with each other, I assume that's when the stories will get into motion as friction and tension will start to rise among the survivors. Not to mention that these are nine (well, eight) people who have deep histories with each other, and that's also something that's gonna be unearthed in this drama as well. Focusing on the survival parts, like them searching for fresh water streams or struggling with fishing, is just gonna make the storyline more muddled or draggy. That's why everything else comes easy or is focused less. It may seem like the writer is cheating but I'm not too bothered because at least he did create some explanations for it i.e Bonghee's skills for survivals and Kijoon's medical background in the army.

Also, the abandoned shelter isn't really something that just popped out randomly. Alden's shelter in the second episode seems to contain some military-looking equipment, so they've already hinted there were human activities on the island in the past. And as it is near China, the island could have been easily involved in WWII. The timing (Kijoon saying the mines are 80 years old) also seems right.

Whenever it comes to special effects and sets, I cut them some slack if it doesn't look as realistic because it is not a high-budget drama.

I hate this just when we're finally starting to learn the "actual" truth happening on the island THEY HAVE TO KILL OFF LEE YEOL. Goddamnit writer.

President Hwang's accident was also something I did not see coming..... jesus that was an intense scene.

Also, interesting moral questions were posed by the writer through Tae Oh in this episode. First during the boat scenes and then through Sohee's recount of what she saw in the forest.

Tae Oh is clearly an extremely ruthless and selfish man who puts his own well-being above everyone else, but with the pilot impaled and having zero chance of survival, I wonder how anyone would've reacted if they're in the same position as him.
