Did you have exams for English?

early on high school most of it would just be assessments, so no exams

in my final two years we'd have a standard exam

it was usually writing an essay based on a book we read. we'd be allowed to have the book with us in the examination hall so we could quote and annotate the pages. they'd go through and check everyone's book for extra notes ofc. i quite liked it since i'm not great at memorising but could always pull an essay off. liked reading too so it never felt that bad to me.

I've never really been tested on the actual "grammar" or anything. but then again I live in australia, so they'd obv have to teach us english differently.

how was it like for you guys.

I chose to go to French school so we had ESL throughout our schooling (l o l)

We had ministry exams in grade 6, 8 and 10. Homemade exams were very varied but ministry exams consist of 3 competencies: interact in English, understand texts (reading/listening), and writing texts.

Then I went to college where we had 4 mandatory lit classes where we were evaluated on essays and public speaking.

I then went on to uni in ESL teaching so...

rdw?

reading directed writing. They basically give us a text and we have to answer questions, but the marking scheme is really specific and then we have to make a composition depending on what they ask us, they be whooping my ass all day every day ^^;

Last year we had grammar, vocabulary, writing..etc but now it's just RDW which is a mix of them all and Writing.

I did a GCSE and iGCSE each for english language and english literature in high school. I think language made us analyse and interpret anthologies and write pieces of writing in a certain style. Literature involved shakespeare and stuff zzz.

I'm in AP Lit & Comp and we've had 2 exams so far. The exams are mini-AP exams, with 1 full essay and 45 multiple choice questions. I ran out of the time on the first one, but I'm proud to say that in the most recent exam, I scored a 9 on my essay, and got a 43/45 on the multiple choice.  :datass:
