Gloupipoo 1,619
So I was offered to present a project to a national pedagogical convention in early December regarding a project I am currently piloting in class. I'm not sure if I should present because yes, the project is great and very complete. However, I feel that being younger than most makes it awkward for me to present a project to ph.D teachers across Canada. Plus, the offer is so sudden I feel it might take a lot of preparation. (((I also have performance anxiety and if I don't convey my project well I'll just crawl under a rock and live there forever))) Good sides are that the convention is famous in Canada so it would look great on my CV... And it's good public speaking experience. What do you think is the better choice?
delirium 4,237
1.Maybe think about it another way. All of those people with ph.D's had to learn from someone, they didn't suddenly gain knowledge through osmosis; so while they may have gotten an early start in life (because they were born before you) they've been in the same boat as you and they still have more to learn, just like you. 2. If you've been asked to do it, then you've made some very big impressions and they trust your ability 3. Performance anxiety??? oh, nvm. Forget 1 & 2, find that rock and just crawl under it now

Suzy Quatro 1,441
You should definitely go for it! I don't know how bad is that performance anxiety thing but if the project is as you said the you should be able to pull that off in a competent matter and you should rely in good project you've been doing. If you're still concerned about your public speaking skills then you could try practicing or doing a little demo before the main thing.

I'd puke before every exam and refuse to leave home. It'd cause (more severe) insomnia (I usually get 8 hours of sleep in a week during exams) and hair loss and tears. I haven't had an attack like that since freshman year of uni tho The key to not get major stress spurts is the be stressed all the time lol (living the life of a teacher ensures that)
