StarShapedGummy 11,380
i'm just going to quote the last paragraph from this opinion piece: https://medium.com/@trentlapinski/dear-democrats-read-this-if-you-do-not-understand-why-trump-won-5a0cdb13c597#.1nv28u98yThere Is Good News While you weren’t paying attention, Trump is actually a former Democrat. If you study his actual values he has far more in common with traditional moderate or liberal values than he does a traditional conservative. In fact, Trump may even be more liberal than Hillary Clinton on several issues. The media prevented any kind of discussion on values, and instead focused on rhetoric and propaganda. So most Americans who immediately defaulted to what the media and Clinton campaign told them never took the time to actually get to know Donald Trump. They just watched the jokes on SNL, and corporate media blindly without considering other sources. While I’m still unsure about Trump myself, we at least know politically he’s actually a New York Democrat in Republican clothing (this is why the Republican establishment rejected him). You also need to consider Donald Trump just overthrew a group of political elites who have been ruling this country for decades. He just beat the political establishment singlehandedly. No matter what you think about him personally, he just accomplished something historic to become our President. At the end of the day, this is an opportunity to learn and grow and consider another world view. This is a wakeup call to get out of safe spaces, politically correct thinking, shatter echo chambers, and challenge yourself to consider the other side of the fence. This is an opportunity to reach out and truly learn to understand each other. We all have to come together to solve any real problems with our country in the next 4-years. This election was a lesson to consider all ideas equally, regardless of established authority. We need to come together and move forward together. cheolbong supremacy 16,576
i dont care what he is tbh hes still a racist sexist pig who takes others lives as a joke and would trample on minorities like bugs under his shoe the first chance he gets. Why would i waste my time pretending to care or understand someone like that?
Dovah Bitch 1,152
Yeah I still remember a years old interview with Howard Stern where he was grilling Trump about his new found Republican beliefs, like "you don't really believe that, do you?" But it doesn't matter what he "truly" believes, that's not what elected him

exorgasm 380
Ok, stop trying to reach for "good things" about a Trump presidency that negates what he has actually said on the campaign. Let him try to prove us liberals wrong. If he wants to pull back from everything he told his base, then ok, cool. We shall see. I won't believe anything based on his words alone. The man has proven time and time again that he has an issue with telling the truth. Lets see the action now.
You Need Some Milk 4,270
The issue isnt mainly trump, we all know his manipulating bigoted ass wanted the presidency no matter what, switching teams with the quickness... thats whatever. I can deal with a stupid president. Its the fact that the GOP is running everything. That's the worst fear. People are probably gonna lose alot of their rights due to their views. And Trumps VP is wayy worse then him. Trump is just the face image, people behind the scenes will truly be running things. Minorities will just have to be closer than ever, everything for us is at risk

sickwithsin 11,102
Trump is whatever he needs to be at any particular moment for people to like him. He's basically just like all the other politicians in Washington now. The only difference is that he has zero experience in politics, diplomacy or military matters. You can bet your ass that there are vultures all over DC that can and will try to take advantage of and manipulate him. No, I'm not really comforted by the fact that he used to be a Democrat. We're only three days out from the election, and our President-elect is already building himself a reputation as a legendary flip-flopper.
xiah.junsu 3,364
There're gifs going around of how a few years ago Trump berated Republicans who will gobble up the most ridiculous shit in Fox news? mochichan 12,341
I'm like 70% sure most of his extreme campaigns were bullshitting to get the racists and sexist vote but that doesn't matter bc rn it is the republicans that are running the house and senate so they can pass conservative laws if they want. Also he's inexperienced so he would have to rely on his staffs more...like the actual devil Pence so no...it doesn't really makes me feels better
IAMPEACH 483
I mean whatever. People aren't upset that he ran as republican. People fear that he is incompetent. I also want to add that even though I do not agree with them on most things, that republicans have a legitimate view on fiscal policy, government policy, etc. The hate speech that Donald Trump uses is NOT representative of their ideas. IAMPEACH 483
well he does lack political experience. he is the first person elected president to never hold a political position. i think a lot of his supporters saw this as an advantage or hopes it's an advantage. the strongest asset he brings is his ability to negotiate, and i'm sure he will be doing a lot of it. I feel like his use of "anti establishment" and discriminatory(for lack of a better word?) rhetoric got a lot of his supporters on board. His talk about trade deals also appealed to the "silent majority" too. The only problem with that is that he is not really anti establishment. I mean look at his speculated cabinet. Another problem-Jobs. This resonates with a lot of Americans, but a lot of Americans are structurally unemployed, not cyclically unemployed. Most jobs that have been lost, especially in the rust belt, are due to improvements in technology. If anything I think he should aim to deal with education and making sure more people strive for higher education. That is what will get people employed. He should also back track and change his rhetoric/ views on minorities. It appealed to some, but over half of America is views it very negatively. Including myself. Seulo 4,828
He chose fucking Pence as his VP, the man who inadvertently caused an HIV outbreak in Indiana after he shut down the only place to get tested. We have a lot more to worry about than Trump and it sucks that people aren't really talking about it. That disgusting, bigoted, sociopath would rather support government funding of something barbaric and inhumane like "conversion" camps then support planned parenthood.
