We basically had to choose our poison. I choose hilary and i almost threw up right there.

Mess why didn't they go to vote????

Because they are both assholes and "the lesser of the 2 evils for president" is bullshit and is not democracy!

because they didn't want either of them. "She's not as bad as Trump" isn't enough motivation for most people.

No it's there is 800 less polling place than 2012. First election where the weakened Voting Right Acts had a big impact.

I'm sorry... half of Americans didn't even bother to go vote? What the hell? This is a horrible voter turnout, given how tight this race was those voters would've definitely made a difference. Your vote matters! If you are eligible to vote, vote!

It's amazing how Trump didn't even win the popular vote but he still won the presidency. Hopefully this teaches America a lesson and next election season we don't repeat this bullshit!

Would someone be kind enough to explain to me this voting system because I can't make sense of it: what does it matter how many people actually voted since the win isn't based on the votes of the people but this election school thing? What am I missing? I'm completely clueless about this voting system. Why doesn't the public opinion matter?

I think if anything these numbers show a very clear divide within the US.

Even if the winner was different, it tells a very tense situation with the US population. For awhile, I figure that the views in America have grown very much apart, but this paints it in a very clearer picture.

Basically each US state has a number of electoral votes based on the population. The higher the population, the more electoral votes there are.

It was made to create balance. Though over the years its been very scrutinize. And while there been some attempts to change the system, it not likely to go anywhere.
