People with big phones (screen size 5.5-inches and up)

I'm thinking of switching from an iPhone 6 to a Xiaomi Mi Max

I want a big phone but I have pretty small hands so I'm worried about how I'll use it. That and how 'pocketable' it's going to be.

How do you guys like your big phones? The Mi Max is so pretty I'll probably end up getting it anyway lol.

That's actually a good choice for a phone. Hmm i actually love my big phones. Been using 5.5 inch+ for the good 4 years. My Nexus 6p (5.7 inch) Nexus 6 (6inch), Samsung Note 4 (5.7 inch) and note 2 (5.5) and now using my Pixel Xl (5.5). Though i kinda missed my Nexus 6 big screen. I can live without it. If you wear jeans than it should be aright. 6 inches i can tell there was a lot of bulk on my Nexus 6 without a case. Just go to your nearest store and try it out if it's all well as try to see if it's aright in your pocket. A mi max is really one big phone.

Thanks for the insight. I'm ready for a bigger phone but I'm just a little worried the jump in size may be too big lol. The problem about Xiaomi phones is that they aren't sold in my country so I won't know it's too big until I've actually bought it. :/

Tbh as long as it can fit in jeans pockets, I'll be alright. That's the most important thing.

I don't know about having big phone but Xiaomi is a nice brand! (You probably already know)

Yeah my friends use Xiaomi phones and they're amazing, they're the reason I'm getting one. :)

Only problem I can see that you might have is the screen size. 6.4 is massive. An iPhone 6 is only 4.7. That's one huge difference (even between the last phone i used which is the Nexus 6 to my Pixel xl) there's a huge difference at 0.5. Hmm by any chance do you have Samsung's in your place? Maybe look at the pixel xl or S7 edge see how it fits in your hand as that's about 5.5 for s7 edge and 5.7 for pixel xl in terms of total size. If that is aright than just think of it 0.7 inch more. You'll get just how much more different it is. It's like one of the closest phones to the size of the phone your looking at. Just a suggestion ^.^ you don't have to but better safe in my opinion before ordering it.

I have an S7 Edge and also small hands. Looking back, I regret not going for the S7. The S7 Edge is compact as hell (iirc 72% screen-to-body ratio) so it's not too bad and you get used to it, but it's just a tad too big how I like to use my phones.

The screen-to-body ratio is definitely something you should consider. Personally, if you like occasionally using your phone with one hand, don't go larger than 5 inch.

Hmm ok I'll pop down to some phone shops tomorrow and have a look for the Pixel XL. I've used the S7 Edge before and I didn't think it was that big actually, so that's probably a good sign.

Thanks for the advice. :)

I can handle not using my phone with one hand so that's ok. The screen-to-body ratio of the Mi Max is 74.76% which is good I guess?

Yeah that's about as good as it gets but the screen is insanely big. You're essentially talking tablet size here. You can forget about putting that in your pocket I think.

My phone is 5.7" and at first I thought it would be a problem, but I really love it now, I don't think I could go back to a smaller screen. It's very easy on the eyes, typing is easier, you can actually watch video's without having to strain your eyes to spot the details, etc

My hands aren't that small though, and I pretty much never use it onehanded so that probably explains it. I almost always wear jeans and generally I don't really have a problem with it, though I have 1 jeans that is a little smaller, and in that case the phone does annoy sometimes, but all in all it's not that big of an issue.

My hands are big enough I think to hold my phone without problems although my main concern is that it's a little bit slippery as the surface is aluminum and it's somewhat slim. I haven't used or seen that phone but if you had the same problem is something that you can solve by just using a skin cover for your phone, it gives a better grip overall and you would feel more safe handling your phone with one hand that way.
