If not for him, we would have been screwed. more people would have died in the process of defeating the axis, that is true, but the allies would have won eventually. also, stalin did not actually help the allies. russia only got involved because hitler lost his mind and decided to invade russian territory as well. stalin was perfectly content to sit on his backside and do nothing up to that point. also, he's responsible for as much bloodshed in eastern europe as hitler. He purged 1/3 of his generals just because of the %1 chance they might be trying to overthrow him. Nobody is perfect and the time was truly not calm so ofc he was scared of ppl betraying him. And idk but you sound as if ordinary citizens weren't involved in the war. My grandpa for instance lost all his 3 brothers there. My grandma was working 24/7 to supply food to soldiers. 20 million people died just for us to have a peaceful future but apparently it's because America helped. Ok.
