[TREND IN K-POP] Trop House: Did It Start With YING YANG?

As many of you guys know, trop house's increasing use of popularity has been seen in the 2016 Asian scene with BTS, Berry Good and now Black Pink.

But one song, CROSS GENE's YING YANG in particular, was released in June of 2016 that may arguably be one of the driving forces of the trop-house scene in K-POP. The reason, aside from the fact that the album did very well in Japan despite little to no promotions from Amuse, is that one of the world's biggest producers, RedOne, worked with the group, and is notably the first ever Korean act he has ever worked with.

How do you like this style of music in K-POP?

BERRY GOOD ARE THE PRINCESSES OF TROPICAL HOUSE :lub:

Sorry but Berry Good looked like they were trying to hard for me ... Trop House (and acting cute/innocent) doesn't fit together at all.. not to mention that Dance Hall elements in their choreo wasn't that strong it looked way to forced

but that's just my opinion

And where exactly were they acting cute?

But yknow... maybe you'll like it better once you find out a YG producer made Berry Good's song~ Now you should pull a UNIQ.

They were doing sexy

No way innocent

they were trying that crossover between sexy and cute thing (please i saw the mv )

anyway even their choreo with those Dance Hall elements looked to try-hard and well i didn't like their vocals.. tbh i expected more but thats just my opinion

Okay okay we get it. YG is the best, BLACKPINK will forever be better than any other rookie girl group and no one will ever come close blahblah. Now shoo.

i still didn't like it even if Teddy himself would have produced it for them..

i got my reasons for that..they don't fit in that genere at all if they would have been more fierce and would have left out that (looking innocent) parts and would have pulled out that Dance Hall elements in their choreo better .. maybe then i would have liked it way more

first of all why are you answering for others ??

anyway i watched it.. and i still got the feeling that they lack in that charisma to pull of that Dance Hall elements in their choreo maybe they should have just left it out

sorry but i love Trop House /Dance Hall /AfroBeats and when it comes to dancing to this type of music i want to see firece charasmatic choreo.. they lack in stage charisma for me (not saying the Song is bad its ok )

but that's my opinion ... end

If you can jump into a convo I can too buddy

Berry Good's average dancing>Jisoo's zombie self

It's tropical/deep house lol, which is one of the reasons why it got so much attention and so many articles were written about it.

Deep house and trop house is not the same thing. But yknow pointless arguing with a Shawol. Yes SHINee invented everything, they invented dancing and everything. Now plz. Go away.

It's heavily influenced by both sub-sub genres

The tropical house sound infiltrated the U.S. mainstream in 2015 thanks to Justin Bieber, but the sound was already making waves in Korea thanks in big part to SHINee's subtly sexy single -- another ambitious release to add to the boy band's discography.

Billboard

Most recently, the group dropped their latest full-length album Odd, featuring their excellent single "View" which ushered in a tropical-house sound to K-pop
