What's with kpop makeup artists?

With the recent picture floating around of all the idols at Golden Disk with the white, not blended in faces, it's really started to make me wonder. I mean, I understand that BBCream is Korea's must have make up item, but I thought it was something used for the everyday person. Shouldn't make up artists be using more "serious" make up on celebrities? Especially at events like award shows, where a lot of candid photographs are usually taken, wouldn't they want to use makeup that matches the idols skin in these photos?

It's is something that has always irked me, not enough to be angry, but just enough to want to know why. On the other hand, though, their eyeliner skills are always en pointe, so good job on that.

They sometimes try to manipulate the idol's complexion into looking very pale, sometimes making them look a tad weird.

The BB Cream in Korea is very top class, so it's really good and has nice coverage, but I agree. They should probably put a bit more effort sometimes into their makeup.

the artist could be doing thier own makeup, that could be possible

I've heard of situations where this has happened, but it's mainly been with rookie groups. I also heard that After School do their own makeup sometimes, but I'm not sure how true that is

What kind of face makeup is considered "serious"? Something with full coverage? I can understand the not-fully-blended point, but there's nothing wrong with BB cream. Sephora has tons of high end BB and CC creams.

I meant makeups with fuller coverage, yes. Also, BB Cream has a tendency to be very shiny and reflective, which is my main problem with them using it, but that overly dewy skin seems to be trendy in Korea at the moment, and if they do put powder on over the BB, it looks cakey. I think you're right, though. Blending into the neck is key.

I think it's just because it makes them paler. No other reasoning behind it. I would've thought the powder to finish would help. I know CC cream is dewy, but some BB creams can be too. Blending into the neck can only help you so much though; you'd have to blend down to wherever your shirt ends which in some of the girls' cases, could take a long time. Korea has all of this whitening stuff, but most of it's just for the face!

They (probably) didn't look that bad in real life. Foundation with  high SPF has an effect of making people look like white ghosts in flash photos. But of course make up artists should know that....

Yeah^

Most of the photos from reporters with flash cameras look terrible. But on the broadcast and in fansite photos everyone looked fine

well to be fair, it's not only kpop artist, yes Kpop artist tend to look pale and like to showcase their "flawless" skin by using a lot of bb cream, but everyone who appear on TV will get a lot of make up and when we look them in real life, it will look weird. I'm working in TV station and even the news casters have  heavy make ups which made them look like zombie but somehow it looks good in front of camera. We have to take note that they arent going to prom or party but going on a live show and their faces will be shown by cameras, they need to adjust their make up to the camera so they still look good.

Well after all, they look good after all in front of camera during GDA, right ? ( except Shinee, I never like the extra heavy shinee's make up, I get it, maybe it's their concept, but I still dont like it )

as for that pictures, thats what happened when you wear heavy make up for TV purpose and got  your picture taken with only camera's blitz as the source of light exposure. so I think thats what happened.

And the point of putting so much on is to make the idol look flawless and photogenic, 'camera ready'. It's only a few pics that actually turn out bad and that's due to poor lighting at the time the camera goes off or just simply a bad pic
