from lizard imitation to pink child's pajamas to this... I think it's a combination of him having no idol image baggage and the shows taking advantage of him 

 

tbh, I'm starting to associate "the sad clown" complex with him ... he's definitely getting his and his group's name out there by going all out with every chance, but he's also losing fans (especially in the fandom dominated by teens) by constantly risking and ruining his image whether it's out of his will...  I'm not sure if he's aware of this or he's underestimating the risk.

 

i'll take solace by saying that he's a professional entertainer.

 

Sometimes, I hope he can be less unselfish.     

I hate PDs for forcing that 'clown image' on him. First Hitmaker, later Roommate. That's why I'm glad both shows ended and I'm happy when Jackson gets invited to shows like Radio Star. Promoting him as a clown won't do anything good for him in the long run. 

 

I hope Jackson gets involved in different things and JYPE start putting more emphasis on Jackson the performer not Jackson who makes everyone laugh. Even he doesn't want that. 

 

Jackson stans want to see him having solo stages during concerts or listening to his compositions but we get nothing. Even during japanese tour he didn't have a solo what made me sad a bit..

 

Jackson wants to be known as GOT7's Jackson - a singer and composer in the future not Roommate's Jackson and he mentioned it many times. 

 

When you're on a show and you're a rookie you're forced to do everything they ask you, cross-dressing and other embarrassing things. Jackson knows how to turn everything into a joke even if he's hurt ex (when he was left at the airport on Hitmaker or when they gave him embarrassing clothes and told him to wear it.)

Tbvh Jackson can be considered as one of the weakest in GOT7 in singing live. His voice is not stable and he got problem catching his breath if his line involved dancing. I'd love see to him got more time to get trained on that particular area. Also his rapping style in GOT7 doesn't really help him that much (JS didn't even stand a chance to have proper rapping line anyway). He was significantly better in True swag or Stop stop it Remix performances.

Regarding the movie/drama opportunity, I hope JYP could push him to China's market just like Jr. who most likely will act in a Korean drama this summer. If lucky enough Jackson can act as foreign spy in Korean drama like TOP too. I see there are chances for him to build his career path but at the same time, I don't really have high hope on JYP for that ._.

My only wish for now is GOT7 getting more recognition and being able to find their own music style in the next comeback.

 

You think so? Usually fans who aren't even JS biased say that he's the best rapper in the group and out of all rappers he's also the best at singing live - I'm sure of it. He's never been trained to be a singer so he's doing quite well imo.

 
I'm not sure about JYPE pushing him because I don't know how if they realize that he's quite popular and want to do something with it. Until now (like someone said earlier) all offers Jackson's got were not thanks to JYPE's work. Hitmaker happened accidentally, for Roommate Jackson auditioned, and for Radio Star he was invited by the producers..
 
I hope they realize that they can make money using Jackson but it's JYPE so no one knows if they take this opportunity. The fact that his part in Stop Stop It was 12s long shows something LOL.

 

Is it me, or this thread is a lot more text-heavy than other artists' individual threads?

 

Anyway, let me continue with this fantasy about an acting career for Jackson, assuming that he can act and is interested in it. He'll be well liked in Hong Kong as Hong Kong people in general prefer strightforward, genuine and quick-witted guys than cute flower boys, who are actually often despised and ridiculed. Too bad that Hong Kong's entertainment business has been stagnant regressing for a while now and there's no sign of getting better, so he'd better aim at the Chinese market and not place any hope on JYPE for that.  

 

On a side note, "Huayi princess" (the daughter of the president of Huayi, one of the biggest film/media company in China) likes Jackson. She posted earlier this year on weibo that he's her ideal type. May I wish her liking of him lasts long and rubs off on her father!

We don't know which special stages will be broadcasted, probably those that are sung in Korean. It's possible that Jun. K Mark and Jackson are performing a japanese version of TS because Jun. K is also performing japanese songs at the concert. 

 

(His solo stuff is in japanese not korean)

 

So I'm assuming that only Cheetah x JS x KN gets broadcasted. Well I HOPE. The only stage that will be shown for sure is GOT7's.

 

Some korean articles already mentioned this collab so it seems it's legit.

I was kinda worried about this stage and about the interaction between them *silly me* but I'm glad they look so close already xD

 

I really hope this stage airs tomorrow on Mcountdown. For now we have the audio and Jackson's part (video).

 

 

You can feel how comfortable JS feels in this genre ;;;;;;;

That being said, despite having the least technical skill, I like his style of dance the best.  He always dances kinda differently than everybody else, which is why he's quick to catch newer fans' eyes at first, but his style really shows when he's just dancing alone in the background.  I think he's more comfortable dancing without direction than being told what to do, probably because that was what he did exclusively in the years before becoming a trainee.  He may not be the best technically at choreography, but when it comes to freestyle dance, I would definitely watch him over the others.  Just my opinion, though.  Your thoughts?

True, on WIN and in this practice video he just catches my attention and I can't help it.

I love watching him dance.

 

 

When he dances he's in his own world  :lol: He gets so excited - like JYP said - he sometimes even dances too fast because he's overreacting BUT I love it.

 

I also agree with @ cascade, his expression add a lot to his dancing. I always choose a dancer who enjoys dancing even if he's not perfect over someone who can do every move in a perfect way but looks like a robot or is bored on stage.

 

 

As for haters, he doesn't have that many yet. He's getting popular and many kpop fans who don't even follow the group recognize him so he's bound to have some 'haters' but believe me, it's not what other kpop idols are getting on their SNS. Aside from Jackji issue, Jackson haven't done anything that would give him hate yet.

 

Outside the fandom he has more fans than haters. That one person who spams his IG might be a troll. We shouldn't worry about it.

 

Actually the only issue I find absolutely ridiculous was in the fandom and it was Youngjae issue. I still can't believe how many "fans" believed in it. 

If you don't know what I'm taking about then ignore, I don't really want to tell this story all over again.

 

Coming back to how Jackson is liked by kpop fans in general - that reminds me how Seoul beats tweeted that they loved My Type stage (they don't praise JYPE artists much) and Asianjunkie said they like Jackson LOL.

 

It shows how likeable he is.

I found it quite funny, the response that he got.  Prior to making that statement, people always wanted to make fun of his "bad" rapping (which is more of JYP's fault for making him change his rap style in the studio); but after he made that statement, I saw all kinds of people coming out of nowhere saying that he actually wasn't a bad rapper and some people were curious about how he would sound if he rapped in Chinese.  Haha

 

I was actually glad that he said it, to be honest.  It shows that he is aware of what was really considered rap in hip-hop culture.  That's why Iggy Azalea, for example, gets so much hate from hip-hop lovers.  Her flow isn't great, she can't freestyle for nothing, and she appropriates black culture because she thinks it's tantamount to hip-hop (and it isn't),  yet she wants to be considered in the same class as, say, Nicki Minaj.  Jackson, on the other hand, knows his limits and didn't try to put himself in a class where he knows he doesn't belong, hence why he got so much respect. 

 

If anything, he reconfirmed my original opinion: Jackson understands rap better than JYP and he should be allowed to rap the way he feels comfortable  Honestly, I still don't get why JYP made him a rapper if he doesn't even like the way Jackson raps...

I don't know if you guys saw asianjunkie article about it - people said basically the same thing. While other idol rappers who aren't even that good want to prove that their 'real' rappers, Jackson is totally different and aware of the fact that he's not a real rapper and he's the first idol rapper to say it. 

 

I also didn't expect positive feedback after this but I respect him for saying that.

I really hope JYP realized that he should let Jackson rap like he wants and gave him a longer line in GOT7's new title track because Jackson complained 1234 times  :lol:

Agree with everything you said about him being considered "unsafe" for anything. Quite a few people have been calling him a ticking time bomb that will one day drag the group down. I actually think some of these people have been looking forward to that day so that they can make the "told you so" comment. There of course have been a few controversial and worrying instances, but they've become kind of minor compared with the many pleasant surprises he's given us so far. He will make mistakes for sure and may get into trouble as the more you do and say, the more likely you'll err. But since he's so unpredictable, like you said, we'll just have to wait and see, all the while being conflicted with expecting more surprises and worrying about mishaps.

This is sooo true. From what I've seen certain people have been calling him a member who can cause trouble sooner or later and even compared him to Jay Park. I you get to know Jackson more you'll notice that Jay and Jackson's personalites differ - and I'm not trying to say that one is good and the other is bad here.

 

Those people rarely mention him and if they mention him it's only when 1) he ruined their ship 2) he does something that can be criticized. I think the only reason why they dislike him so much is that they see him as a potential threat to their bias but they SHOULDN'T.

 

Jackson is so charismatic on stage that I can't help but see only him even when his dancing isn't 100% perfect. He was born to be a star.

 

Like you said Jackson is the member general public knows the most and many fans start liking the group because of Jackson but move to other members later on. It seems that Jackson will never be a stan attractor, his fansites are leaving for the reasons we don't know and it is sad for us as fans but on the other hand we have to look at this in a positive light - Jackson is usually the reason why kpop fans get interested in GOT7.

 

Jackson isn't trying to maintain his idol image, he even dresses like he wants even when fans spam him on instagram telling him that they want to burn all his snapbacks and i-pooped-myself pants. He wants to be liked for who he is and he doesn't care if fans don't like his style.

 

As for your comment about Jackson's looks, I think that it's still good that there are knetizens saying that his handsome (like in the recent article about him becoming an MC on Inkigayo) - he might not be a flower boy but there's certainly something that people find attractive in his face. There are idols who have it worse because they've been called ugly or not attractive since debut until now.

 

I do hope that Jackson gets some offers in China in the future and keeps getting gigs in Korea. I love seeing him appreciated.

I like Love Train more than ATW, the chorus is catchy and their outfits look better. It may not be my type of a song but it's not annoying.
