I've been in them and all it does is create false hope and unfortunately a lot of people's dishonesty comes out afterwards. I was part of a long distance relationship where my trust was completely betrayed after we started living in the same location. Also if someone complains about it being too hard or otherwise, just remember that if you want to have a successful relationship in general, being with someone who lives where you live does NOT exempt you from having to work hard anyway. The lack of physical contact makes it hard, but it's bearable if the rest is good and there is a perspective of it turning into a normal relationship in the future.. If you don't want to be in one, fine, but that doesn't mean they're always going to fail. Two of my friends were in LDRs for years before getting the chance to live with each other.
