I've been kinda half-following Scarlet because of their Cube connections and also having kinda liked that "Do Better" song.  And while their "Do Better" MV is a little bit disastrous, I kinda liked what they were attempting in their Show Champion and SBSMTV The Show performances -- clearly a performance orientated girl group at a time when there just aren't many of those active right now.

Does seem like we're less following a new girl group and more being apart of some open beta with the rapid member changes and such.  And even without that, any plans by their company for a more cohesive debut roll out pretty much ended with the Sewol disaster.

.

So, they got a facebook page, some media play about their member who's an engineering/architecture student (Kimi) and their other member who weighs 39kg (Jihye).  Now they got this "Hip Song" MV which is really fun, but also features a member that's no longer there, which is not fun.

.

Hopefully there's enough money left to do another promo where everything goes as planned, because there's some quality here that deserves a shot.

Scarlet managed to get this article in the media explaining how, despite not being able to get on TV, their Hip Dance 2014 MV is garnering plenty of views online.  Allegedly.

Just a fun tidbit -- when you look up the guy who composed the music for Hyuna's upcoming title track -- 빅싼초 (Big Sancho) -- one of the things that gets returned is Scarlet's "Do Better" debut.

 

So, at least someone's done better from that. Maybe it'll get a few more people to check out Scarlet...

It's just too bad the MV wasn't done better.

Anyway, I believe this counts as actual proof that since the promo, Scarlet has performed somewhere other than Boracay.

Now, I know what you're thinking -- where's Kimi?!?

 

I would love to tell you that she had exams or a big project or something back at school and couldn't make the schedule, but there is unfortunately evidence that Scarlet may in fact be in the market for a new rapper. 

Let's just hope for the best.  At least they're still alive.  And really proud of their MV views on Melon or something.

Maybe not lost. The best I can figure from this tweet by Blady's Soojin, Kimi did #icebucketchallenge her, so, at least that's something.  Must've happened on cyworld or instagram as the last activity on Kimi's twitter account was like from 20 days ago... 20 days is enough time for Scarlet to change two members.

As stated in the OP, they were initially represented by an agency called "Funny Collection" -- you can see the name scrawled on the wall where those Scarlet polaroids were taken. When they came back post-Sewol, they began to be listed in their mediaplay as being from both Toilet Music and Funny Collection.  Now, it's mostly just Toilet Music.  Probably a separate company started by Funny Collection to limit their liability exposure when they decide to... flush their foray into idol music down the drain.

So a while ago I clicked through Scarlet's official youtube channel to see if anything was happening, and there in the summary is this notification that they have subscribed to some random person's youtube channel:

 

 

The random person turns out to be this '97 SNS/UCC rapper by the name of Bae Yumin... whose youtube channel had about 10 times as many subscribers as Scarlet's official channel...

Anyway, didn't seem that important.  Maybe some office staffer at Toilet Music was drunk surfing on the can and forgot to logout of the official account or something...  Until you track down Yumin's instagram account and see that about two weeks after Scarlet's official youtube channel started following her, she happened to visit the offices of Cube Ent., home of many people who are involved in the production of Scarlet...

...to maybe have a mango smoothie in the lobby cafe while looking at the Hyuna memorabilia or something, as she has since gone back to entertaining her thousand or so youtube subscribers.

When Scarlet is subscribing to the youtube channels of unsigned rappers just before their current rapper suddenly disappears, it just gives you that sucky feeling inside.

Wow, I had just assumed Scarlet's company thought social media was just a fad and didn't bother totally forgotten about their facebook.  And look at all those edited postings.

"Hip Song's" view count not that weird when you consider "ì—‰ë©ì´" is a very common search term in Korea.

 

Anyway, "Hip Song" is also a remake of an older song, so there's those associated search results as well.  And the MV is more fun with a much higher replay value since there is that thing in the "Hip Song" MV that was missing from the "Do Better" MV.

Eh, even if they do comeback, it's pretty much already ruined.

 

But really, not being able to dance properly at debut, the member changes after they made their first MV, the odd nature of the first MV, the Sewol disaster shutting down kpop, losing a member during production of their comeback MV, eventually losing the "star" of that MV and not being able to promote their comeback anywhere, even for pharkil...

 

Girl groups are hard.

 

But if they still have money, they still have a chance.
