Article: "SECRET's dead? We're still alive!" (Interview)

Source: TV Report via Naver

On the mention that while SECRET and SISTAR used to be rivals, 2013 changed their situations, "We believe that SECRET and SISTAR are on our own paths. What's more important is how much we advance. It's true, however, that we paid attention to other groups during our debut, but now that we're five years in, it's more important for us to figure out how we'll make it on our own, what we can do as girl groups, and whether we can continue to grow. People say that SECRET's popularity has died down a lot, but we're going to show that that's not the case (smile)."

1. [+656, -12] Since 'Love is Move', their songs have been largely average at best without any impact... I feel like they're at a standstill probably because they only use the same composer who uses the same style without any improvement... They need to change their composer.

2. [+589, -16] The cute act was just too much in their recent comeback... and their faces are all fixed.. Way better before.

3. [+568, -31] Try being like SNSD by changing up your concept every album... All you ever sing are childish songs. SISTAR, Girl's Day, and A Pink have become far too popular for people to even see you now.

4. [+410, -16] Their faces have changed so much...

5. [+391, -18] Their popularity has certainly died down. They were at their height during Starlight Moonlight and rocky ever since until this comeback sealed the deal.

6. [+93, -13] Zinger needs to tone it down. She's going to lose whatever fans they have left if she tries that aegyo she did in Japan over here.

7. [+83, -10] Well, it's true their popularity has died down significantly...

8. [+75, -13] Song Ji Eun is still alive

9. [+68, -6] They used to do powerful, unique concepts until they randomly switched to cute, pretty concepts after gaining popularity... Look at the concepts that made them popular during their debut.. Go back to that.

10. [+61, -5] A shame because this group had the best part distribution. Aside from Zinger, the three of them had equal lines and were stable to boot.. unlike miss A or 4minute one man teams.

But... shy boy was what made them popular....

It is sad though when you think about it.. Not long ago SISTAR and Secret were pretty much rivals. Heck I would even say that Secret > SISTAR in terms of popularity... Then one way B.A.P. Debuted Bam... It just disappeared. Classic case of a company goofing up and not knowing how to promote their groups properly.

If Secret had continued and stayed with the momentum that they were getting, they would have been a powerful force by now.

during 2011 they were really popular specially shy boy and starlight moonlight era, but then ts ent shipped them to japan and gave them a long hiatus that when they cameback they had a hard time recovering their popularity and then the ilbe scandal happened which made trying to recover their popularity even harder

i thought Secret's Love is Move era was great. they pulled off the concept well, they looked stunning, and that album was pretty good too. the only unfortunate thing about that comeback was that it was during the time a lot of the well known girl groups were making their comebacks as well so they got overshadowed.

Its quite hard for a group from non-big 3  to get even bigger if they mess up.

Its sad cause after Shy Boy and Madonna they were rising and many thought they will be big...they were one of the rising groups that said, "Watch out for us". it was awesome for them in 2011 and 2012 but now, look at them.

One slight misstep (ps, ilbe controversy, uninteresting song )  caused their popularity to dwindle down especially as they're a girl group that relies heavily on public interest, good image.  The public is fickle.

If a rising boygroup messes up, they still have their fanbase to support them and back them up. fandoms are loyal

Its a bigger risk for girl groups.
