This reminds me back then when DBSK were at their peak. Most people have heard of the name DongBangShinKi but not many knew who the members were. They basically didn't know the name of the members and they didn't know their faces/how they look like. The public basically had no idea who DBSK were. They only heard of the name DongBangShinKi and a couple of their songs. but thats basically it.

 

Even during their lawsuit, the lawyers and public still couldn't figure out  how tvxq looked like. Although the lawsuit issue was big. its sad that idols are never taken seriously.

 

SNSD case was different because they're girls. they appeal to the public alot more and the public took more interest in female personalities..

It could be true, since EXO has alot members and it was like a sudden Growl being popular from a "nugu" group.

 

Gee was a breakthrough for SNSD, but before Gee, YoonA was popular from Jang Saebyeok in "U are My Destiny" and Taeyeon was popular too (Sorry I forgot what her program she was, but on popular pole, she got #1)

 

Meanwhile EXO... not even a member did anything solo activity before Wolf/Growl era.

TVXQ never ranked on gallup as far as I remember.

 

They weren't as known to the general public as their fans think. And of course the public doesn't know all EXO members. They just got popular and SM literally just started promoting the members a few months ago. They did absolutely no variety until Wolf. So it's been like 6 months of promotions and even then not much individual activities.

 

SNSD were popular before Gee, but they catapulted to the top with Gee. It's not the same situation considering EXO was completely nugu to the public before Growl exploded.
