minime 1,128
Ah, when I was searching for idols crossdressing I found quite a few pics and videos of boygroups doing so. They did so to cover a famous song, like, Vixx for Wonder Girls, Nuest Ren and Exo Suho doing Something by Girl's Day. Even GFriend being a newgen group has had its monster hits covered by Ikon and Got7. Big Bang and Winner have done really funny TV show parodies, where G-Dragon and Jinwoo looked beautiful. Many boygroups show off their knowledge of girlgroup dances like BTS. (And, there were many more other boygroups who had lovely crossdressed pics - notably Infinite's Sungyeol and Dongwoo!) But, really, I didn't find many pics or videos of female idols crossdressing in the outfits of male groups, covering their songs or even doing parodies of TV shows where they played male roles. The one group whose material I found was Twice, and also a really handsome photo of SNSD Yuri. So, my question (or is my googling ability a disaster?) - why don't K-pop girlgroups cover boygroup songs and/or crossdress as much as boygroups do? skcebl 5,968
Boy groups have more solo concerts and girl group songs tend to be more publicly popular. So boy groups have the opportunity to do special stages with songs people at the concert already know. If you want to see girls cover boy songs it's usually just on weekly idol or a show like Produce 101.
Alisonn 5,454
I think it's more along the lines that people don't call it cross dressing when a female does it. But girl groups do make covers of boy group songs quite often.
Rohan Kishibe 13,713
Because girl groups don't hold concerts as much, and guys dressing up as girls is considered more dramatic than girls dressing up as guys. There's a way bigger drag queen counter culture than a drag king counter culture.
dotokki 916
People don't seem to finding it as funny or amusing when girl groups do it. Personally, I dont find it when boy groups do it either - not my humour I guess. If any group is performing another's song I want to watch/listen for the performance not a gag performance. asdlkj 109
Politically correct or not, there's kind of an intended element of comedy when boy groups generally crossdress or cover GG dances Whilst it's pretty much a social norm for women to wear suits and pants and whatever, so it's not all that unusual or interesting enough for them to consider doing I do recall snsd covering sorry sorry a few years back tho
arineunha 352
when guys in kpop crossdress, it's seen comedic and it's supposed to be funny. but when girls do it, it's chic but that concept isn't as popular

analyna 2,090
It's not dramatic to see a girl cross dress. At most they wear a pants suit or baggy clothes and they could probably wear those on a regular if they wanted to. However I guess its more shocking to see guys in skirts, dresses, the big bows and wigs. They do dance to boy groups at ties though.

Goldfinch 7,070
It's interesting that barely someone finds offending when girl-appearance used as gag How dare they, dress is not laugh matter, don't they know how women all around the world suffered for centuries and suffer now, they think that being a girl is something funny??????!!! So women dressed as men not funny? Of course, bc men's clothes are normal and not looked down!11 anyway, I guess girls dressing as a man is not that interesting? But I want to see girls with short hair sometime (tho, it's not that uncommon too)

satoori 45,814
Idol boy groups are not popular with GP, and have a bad reputation with some male fans in Korea. Of course they don't want their precious GGs covering them.
