I failed my biology test that covered the hardest chapter in the book.....I thought i had passed, but i failed......

to make matters worse, i studied for a whole week but i actually understood it at the end.....the material that has been covered will also be on the final exam for graduation next year too

i just cried a lot & i feel like a complete failure, what should i do next? there are only 2 more grades i can get for this term.....i feel really unmotivated atm

i remember in hs i took one year of HL Biology (2 yr class) and one time after a test this girl who was in my next class as well was crying the whole period cause she got a D on the test

but everyone got a bad grade on it and i just remember how much i wanted to tell her to suck it up cause she was being a dumb attention whore about it in my next class since everyone thought her parents died with the way she was crying

really a test is a test, just study hard for the next one and dont give up. maybe ask for extra credit if there is any in the class.

reminds me of my science class freshman year in hs which i barely passed

did u know what was gonna be in the test b4 taking it? one of the biggest changes i made in college that changed my grades was writing down mock answers for essays which i would repeat so many times by the exam i memorized almost everything or making flashcards when it came to identifying things

i would also suggest kissing ass to the teacher not only to possibly get hints for the exam but to get some sympathy should you be a 1-2 points shy of failing

i knew the material we had covered over the test & i did what you said about using mock answers... i'll do more of that though bc i didn't use that method as much

hmmm first of all what do you think went wrong

did you study the wrong stuff?

usually there are great resources online, especially youtube which has tons of great videos especially for the sciences that could help you wrap your head around the concepts better

when you study try to come up with potential questions your teacher could give you so you could predict/anticipate what might be on the test

happy studying and good luck ^^

You should continue studying, never give up. I'm pretty sure you're going to have another chance, and you're completely capable of passing!  :ohla:

thanks for the support, i really needed to hear that....sometimes it's hard for me to regain motivation after being knocked down like this, mostly bc i've had issues w/ my emotional health for the past 2 years

i'll keep your advice & thanks again :rlytearpls: :chu:

trust me its super helpful then pulling things out of your head on the day of the exam since when you go over your response you'll find you can spice things up by including other details or change things around to make your statement sound more consistent.

It's okay, it's not the end of the world, people fail all the time, you should be proud of yourself for trying though because this is the most important and you should find out what you did wrong and try and work on that so you can improve. You can do it!

I also studied really hard but failed at test on one of the subjects I took and did badly on my first two tests but then I improved and finished with a 90,  so there is always hope!

Beside, isn't there tutors or some extra help you can take or be on a study team? try to look for someone who can help you improve.

Good luck!

i studied the right stuff for the test, but i guess my chance she didn't put enough of what was in detail on the test

i used mostly a study guide & the textbook, as well as briefly going over past exam papers, but i guess i need to use youtube videos first to comprehend the topics first.....thank you for the tips btw ^^

ik that biology is difficult because sometimes it's not enough to study the content covered in the textbook and memorizing it. i don't know how the criteria is where ever you are, but over here they try to put in application questions and also test you on concepts that you have to think hard about. majority of our class did really bad..i passed with a 68% but i retook biology and I guess it helped me a lot. I learned new techniques to help me, it's always good to highlight the last line you read so you don't get overwhelemed, also watching videos help, if there are charts and diagram on the textbook you should focus on that..

thank you for your encouragement <3 i'll try to look into advising from more of my classmates & perhaps studying extra harder on a regular basis, since i don't think i can get a tutor for biology atm

Talk to your teacher (professor?) about it and try to think about what you got wrong, why you got it wrong, try to discuss ways to study differently so that you wont make the same mistakes.

If you cant really talk to your teacher try to talk to some sort of counselor or even your friends about it and maybe you can study together with them. Studying can become more effective if you are drilling the information with your friends.

I would definitely talk to the teacher/professor about the frustration and the effort I spent on the subject. Ask their advice. Go to the office hours more often. Communicate again before the next test if possible. Most time if the teacher knows you seriously work on the subject, he'd let you pass.

Don't be too hard on yourself. I recently did really badly on a math test. But because it was minor, it doesn't affect my grade. But I still feel like shit. When you study really hard for a test and then almost fail, how can you not be upset?

So yeah, I really understand what you 're going through now.....

Honestly the best thing now would be to study hard for the next test. Or ask your teacher for extra-cred if that's possible. Also you need to find out where you went wrong. Ask your friends and teachers for help with that. I hope you do well in the next test :)
