On October 15, FNC Entertainment posted a statement on AOA’s official fan cafe to inform fans that Youkyung is no longer with FNC Entertainment.

The agency stated, “We are informing you of AOA’s drummer Youkyung’s contract finishing with FNC. After an adequate period of time and discussion this decision was made in respect to Youkyung’s opinion.â€

The statement continued, “Although her contract with the company has ended, she will continue to participate in AOA band projects as a guest member.†The agency ended with asking fans to continue to love and support Youkyung with her new start as well as AOA.

Youkyung debuted and was introduced as a member of AOA in 2012 and last promoted with AOA with “Moya†in 2013 as a member of sub-unit AOA Black.

We wish Youkyung the best of luck!

Yeah she didn't want to be a part of the dance group and I think she was studying also? But still FNC could have given AOA black at least 1 comeback over the last 3 or so years since their last comeback  :rlytearpls:  I'm just sad to see her go

Yeah basically they could of still had her in AOA videos just not dancing

I would like to see an AOA Black comeback too, but if the unit isn't profitable, the company won't waste money on it. I think she should have adapted to the regular AOA.

But wasn't she the one who didn't like to dance?

Iirc they tried cross dance and band in one group

I mean Choa Yuna Mina are the only ones who can do both while the others are only able to do one of them proficiently

It worked perfectly for Get Out and Elvis and then lo and behold Miniskirt happened and they completely threw her to the backburner when AOA Cream was introduced as another unit

I never understood what the deal with her was, like is she strictly an instrumentalist they cast for the band concept? Or a trainee?

If she's a legit drummer who thought she was joining a band, but now isn't, there's no reason to renew her contract. She's better off as a free agent so she can get session gigs/gigs with other bands. Which is what it sounds like if she's open to playing for AOA again in the future.
