SHORT FIC: Backstage

 

 

 

SungHoon smiles, a happy yet sad smile when he sees a sea of yellow light fills the arena. He is used to seeing the 'yellow sea' but not like this. He is usually on stage, standing alongside the other members, alongside Jiwon, surrounded by the fans who he adores and loves so much. This time he gets to see the 'yellow sea' again, but he isn't standing on the stage alongside the other members, alongside Jiwon, he is alone, sitting in a room, backstage. No fans around him, but he still adores them, loves them, even though he feels like his fans is slipping away from him, abandoning him, he still loves them the same.

 

SungHoon watches the members perform on the stage. They really done a great job. Those hours they spend practising have paid off. They sing beautifully, when they sing, SungHoon sings too. When they passionately dance, SungHoon is tapping his feet, snapping his finger following the beat. SungHoon feels proud watching how well they perform tonight. They looks handsome as they always been, especially Jiwon. Jiwon always looks handsome in SungHoon's eyes, but tonight, he looks more handsome than ever. He notices Jiwon is working extra hard tonight, they all are and SungHoon feels extremely proud and somewhat sad because he can't be there with them tonight. He convinced himself that this is the best he can do for the team and for the fans.

 

The concert finally comes to an end, he feels sad watching the fans sadly looking at the members as they walks out of the stage. He is sure the fans wants the concert to go on and never ends. He feels the same way when he was performing back then, he wanted to sing his heart out until the sun comes out, until the fans are satisfied, he wanted to sing for them till the very end....but sadly...at this moment...he can't. He can only silently watch them.

 

The members enter the room, SungHoon stands and proudly claps his hand. Congratulating them on the success. Jiwon in particular caught his eyes as he goes straight towards him the second he walks in. SungHoon is prepared for a hug, like he always do. Jiwon smiles happily as he pulls SungHoon into his arms.

"You did well hyung, really well"

"It's not the same without you, you know that right?"

SungHoon smiles as he breaks the hug. Suwon comes near him and gives a quick hug.

"SungHoon-ah, I'm dying. You better come back soon"

"You're doing fine Suwon-ah"

"No, he's not"

Jaeduck slaps Suwon at the back as he takes his turn hugging SungHoon. Jaejin as usual going for a hi-five instead of hugging.

"Come back"

Jaejin simple short words means a lot to SungHoon. He looks back to Jiwon who is still watching him, a tired smile curves on his lips and sadness beaming from his eyes. SungHoon smiles reassuringly and goes for another hug.

"Fans are waiting hyung"

SungHoon whispers into Jiwon's ear as he heard fans are chanting for encore. Jiwon gives SungHoon another squeeze before letting go. He manages to sneak a light kiss on SungHoon's cheek.

"Let's go"

SungHoon knows Jiwon is saying that to the other members but the way Jiwon is looking into his eyes makes him feel that Jiwon is inviting him to join the encore stage. SungHoon can just smile even though he is dying to join them even for one song.

 

"See you later hyung"

"See you soon, Hoon-ah"

SHORT FIC : Without You

 

 

 

 

"Calm down you two..."

"Hyung!!! I'm trying my best here. Could you give us a break and stop freaking out!!"

"How the hell am I not freaking out. We're days away from the concert and we're still a mess!!...and your best is not good enough!!"

"What did you say??!!"

"Calm down Suwon-ah, he didn't mean that"

"F*ck this. I'm going home!!"

Suwon storm out of the studio. He is seething with anger.

"Suwon-ah!! Jiwon hyung, don't worry I'll talk to him. He's just tired. We all are. I think it best we call it a night and continue tomorrow"

Jaeduck hurriedly walks out trying to catch up with Suwon. Jaejin who's been silently watching the fiasco slowly stands up from his seat and walks towards the door. He briefly looks at Jiwon.

"Go get some rest Jiwon hyung. You look terrible....." Jaejin stops while going out of the door "We can't take his place hyung..we can never be.."

Jaejin closes the door before Jiwon can say anything.

 

Jiwon lets out a heavy sigh as he slump deep into the couch. He knows he shouldn't said that to Suwon, he knows he shouldn't push them so hard. But, whenever he listens back to the recording, he feels a massive gap in their voices. They all sounds good, they harmonize well but there's still something lacking. The sweet voice that carries the song, the soft yet clairvoyant tone that hold the song together. He closes his eyes, trying to recall the sweet voice in his head. Maybe he'll get some idea how to set the tone without ruining the song. Jiwon sighs again. His head hurts, his heart is aching. He leans back while rubbing his head trying to ease the pain. His heart is still aching.

 

Jiwon jumps in suprise when he feels someone is massaging his head. He opens his eyes and sees the person who sits beside him. Jiwon instantly smiles, his heart ache a little bit less. He closes his eyes again enjoying the soft touch.

"Headache?"

The soft voice hit Jiwon's ears and he instantly feels better.

"Yeah...you know...lack of sleep...when did you arrived? I didn't hear you came in"

"Just now. I brought snack. I thought you guys are still practicing. Where is everyone?"

"Resting...."

Jiwon lies down and rest his head on SungHoon's lap.

"Can I borrow your lap for 5 minutes, Hoon-ah?"

SungHoon lightly chuckles as he softly strokes Jiwon's hair before continue massaging his head. Jiwon smiles wider.

"Concert is getting closer...take care of yourself hyung"

Jiwon can hear a hint of sadness in SungHoon's voice. He opens his eyes and sees SungHoon is smiling down at him, Jiwon knows SungHoon is putting up an act as Jiwon can clearly sees the sadness in his eyes. Jiwon's heart is aching again. He pulls SungHoon's hand away from his head and place it on his chest.

 

"Couple"

Jiwon smiles.

"Huh?"

SungHoon has a confused looks on his face

"Oh love~"

Jiwon starts singing. SungHoon smiles as he continue singing the song. Jiwon closes his eyes, this is the sweet voice that's been missing from the songs and from his heart. Jiwon is lost in the sweet melody, suddenly...he feels a drop of water hits his face. He opens his eyes, the sight of SungHoon in tears breaks his heart to pieces.

 

Jiwon quickly sits up and hugs SungHoon tight. SungHoon hugs him too. Jiwon lovingly caressing SungHoon's back. SungHoon always appear to be strong on the outside but Jiwon knows how vulnerable SungHoon can be on the inside.

"I'm sorry hyung"

"Don't say that Hoon-ah. It's not your fault. We all agree this is the best we can do at this moment. Don't worry about us. We'll manage. Though it'll not be the same without you, we'll do our best"

Jiwon lands a kiss on SungHoon's cheek. SungHoon doesn't reply but he responds by hugging Jiwon harder.

"Everything's going to be alright Hoon-ah. You will join us again on the stage. We will shine again together, even brighter than before. Just hold on, Hoon-ah"

"Hyung..."

"Hmm...?"

"The guys are watching"

"What?!!"

Jiwon looks around and he's surprised to see Jaejin, Suwon and Jaeduck are looking at them through the glass door with a cheeky smile across their faces.

 

Suwon opens the door and the three of them sing;

"I'll give you a backhug

I'll put my cheek on your ear

So that your tear flows on me and stop

You can just lean on me

Even just for awhile

You don't have to say anything, just come into my arm"

SungHoon laughs while Jiwon can feels his cheeks are burning. Jiwon grabs an empty bottle nearby and throw at them. None of them got hit.

"Why the hell are you guys here? I thought you've gone home"

"We can't leave our leader alone can we? Are okay SungHoon-ah? Happy to see our main vocal here. You need to practice too. You might join us soon"

Jaeduck smiles as he sits beside SungHoon and gives him a one arm hug.

"Suwon-ah.."

Jiwon wants to apologize to Suwon for what happened earlier.

"It's okay hyung. I'm sorry too. SungHoon-ah, don't leave, Jiwon hyung is crazy without you around"

SungHoon laughs. Jiwon playfully kicks Suwon. He looks towards Jaejin who's been standing while staring at the table.

"I saw SungHoon's message in the group chat that he's bringing snack. So, I came back"

Jaejin sits down and open the box of fried chicken that SungHoon brought earlier.

"You came all the way back just to eat fried chicken?"

Jiwon asks as Jaejin takes a bite.

"Free food"

Jaejin replies with his mouth full. The group erupts with laughter.

 

Jiwon laughs the hardest. He finally feels complete.
