What do you prefer, good vocal technique or pretty vocal color?

What do you prefer? Do you enjoy pretty vocal color more or vocal tecnique more?

Vocal colour is more important for me. One might have the best tecnique in the world, but it doesn't mean that one can deliever emotions properly.

depends....it's a case by case basis. combination of both is good. imo people with poor technique often have a bad colour...to me anyway. but there are also technical singers that are amazing who i don't care for.

This is going to be unpopular but vocal technique for sure. That's not to say I don't like people with sub-par vocal technique, but when people strain or don't support it's painfully obvious to me and I avoid listening to songs where they strain - I just can't appreciate their voices. It's just a personal preference thing though, there are plenty of people with beautiful tone and horrible technique. As long as they don't strain a whole lot (see: tenors with crap technique trying to mix in upper 4th or 5th octave) I'm fine with it.

I like a bit of both, straining and cracking on notes is very offputting but a nice vocal tone is just so appealing

I would say vocal color but then the singers with good technique can make all songs sound good. Noeul or Brown Eyes are good example

Color. As long as the singer can sing their parts and sound good to my ears, I'm good. But I do hope that companies strive to teach their idols technique as well, so they don't hurt their voices and can sing for me long into the future

I can't really differ a technically good vocal from an average but with pretty vocal color singer so I will say I like voices that sound good to my ears and that includes some AKB members dying cat strained vocals

Vocal color is more important, bc the singer's voice has to evoke the emotions. I'm totally indifferent to the perfect voice technique if someone's vocal tone is non pleasant for me.

The distinctive/unique vocal color is like singer's personality.

Pretty vocal colour. As long as they're not constantly off key, it's all good. I mean technically a purely clear voice is better than a husky voice but sometimes I will prefer the husky voice

i don't really understand singing technique so for me i tend to prefer unique vocal color. But i want my bias to have at least decent vocal technique so they don't harm their vocal chord in the long run, i'd hate to see my bias' pretty voice get damaged just because they don't sing with a proper technique.

well if you could have both that would be best, like I love kyuhyun's vocal tone and he is arguably the best male idol vocalist so ya know, thats good. Also taeyeon, i love her voice and she is a competent vocalist as well. But i can perfectly enjoy someone even if they arent that good as vocalists. As long as they arent dying even on low notes then im okay
