The sexual moves added were totally unncessary. I was already iffy about the crotch grab but there's a hip thrust (edit: that floor move air hump whatever it's called) as well. It was already sexy without the cliche moves and with their execution alone. My biggest fear for BTS was that they would sell themselves out to get even more successful, and I feel like it's already happening. I can imagine that some of the members like Suga and RM who really wanted to be recognized as rappers and producers aren't happy doing this. BTS are very talented at creating and executing what they do. These fanservice moves will only overshadow those traits and attract fans who will love them at a very shallow level.

I'm not a fan of sexy concept and I hope they will never go further than this. They have enough talent and great music, I'm afraid too much of this gonna stray them away from public's respect. As much as I love the MV I wish it is more "neutral" in a way that everyone could enjoy just fine

Could you clarify what you mean by selling themselves out for more success. Do you mean musically, or do you mean image wise, or do you mean choreography. Of course RM, Suga, and J-hope want to recognized for their skills but I don't think they would be unhappy doing this. After all they became idols. You can do both. You can be a successful idol and still be recognize for your skills. For rappers that means putting out mixtapes and collaborating with established and underground rappers. If you continue to do that you can be recognized for your skills too.

I also think you're simultaneously thinking too highly and too lowly of fans. There will always be fans who are attracted to members and groups for superficial reasons, adding a crotch grab or thrust here and there won't change that much, especially when it fits the song. Otherwise Teen t*p would only have superficial fans.

Being sexual and being talented are not opposing forces. Both can exist at the same time. And many fans can appreciate both at the same time.

But that's just my opinion.

I've never really been a fan of the "let me just touch myself randomly" choreos wether it's boys or girls. But you're right that it's probably mostly an unpopular opinion. I usually find those parts more awkward than sexy, and just do my best to block them out. There will be exceptions where I think moves like that fit the song/choreo. But those are like 1/100 if not rarer.

With that being said... Does anyone know if there has been anything official said about a dance practice getting released?

I am with you.

Well the album is great so I just simply focus on listening to that.

I loved the choreo but I totally get your concerns, im not too worried. Theyve done so many different styles since the debuted I dont thin they're gonna stick with the whole sexy thing for too long (that in itself could get boring too)

That's not all there is to the choreo though. Practically all their choreo has had hip thrust. Did you miss No More Dream, We are Bulletproof, I Need U, Dope, War of Hormine, Baepsae, and Save Me. It's nothing new for them. If that's the only thing you're paying attention to out of all the dancing and moving around their doing then that's your problem. The only thing that's probably actually unnecessary is that floor move.

I totally get what you mean. I spazzed over the sexy moves but I've in general preferred moves/MVs/dances that aren't so overly sexual. For example, I think the "hand around the face" move in the pre-chorus was the perfect example of sensual without being over-the-top.

That said, I think that not all their dances do this. For example, their previous two songs "Fire" and "Save Me" were pretty non-sexy (in that they didn't have any overt hip thrusts etc. If the current song is about evil and temptation, it fits to have a sexier concept.

Also, this could push their fan demographics a little higher? I could be wrong about this, but this is generally what Western artistes do when they have to transition from "child" era to a more mature era.

I'd normally agree with this, as I wasn't too fond of the hip thrusts and jacket removals in INU and Run. I personally thought they were too forward and overt, and the lack of complexity in their respective choreographies magnified those aspects. Having said that, I'm completely fine with the moves for BST. Despite them being hip thrusts, they were executed in a classier, more subtle fashion, probably due to the fact that their choreography in general is much more impressive than their previous releases. I hardly noticed the hip thrusts, tbh.

Also, you can make the argument that RM and Suga are already coming to terms with their lives as idols and that they are more adept at balancing their own personal goals with those of BigHit and BTS as a group. We'll never know and I think it's best if we don't make assumptions. While I did and still kinda of have the same worries as you, I do think that fans in general get stuck in a certain portrayal of how BTS should be and are apprehensive of the anything that may break that. But if there is one thing I've learned from them, it's that maybe we should be more open to new ideas and embrace things that may or may not be to our liking. If we're apprehensive before we even give it try, how can we fully appreciate it to begin with you know. We may surprise ourselves.

I love Yoongi's outfit. It's one of my favorites I've seen him don this comeback. I'm very excited about the full performance.

Honestly the ground hip thrust looks more artistic than sexual to me personally since it creates a raised circle and they only do it once.

Other than that one air humping move.. I barely noticed anything overly sexual in the choreo. I was mostly fixated on how synchronized their dancing was and how well each step of their choreo went with the beat of the song and just fits perfectly and that made the performance really eye-catching imo

I'm in love with this choreography and it really suits the song imo. And it's not cringworthy, overtly sexual and out of place but more like, flowing smoothly and emphasizing the song and the mv's overall vibe? I can't imagine any other choreo doing justice to this masterpiece   :rlytearpls:

Image-wise I guess? By selling out I mean compromising their authenticity and ~hopes and dreams~ just to gain more popularity. We've heard countless times that they want to be recognized for their talent and music. So my problem isn't about being sexual or being talented, but what they are mainly recognized for. I totally enjoy how a lot of articles about BTS talk about their albums, music production and choreography. The rabid fangirls have always and will always be there but I don't want "Oppa is so hot" to overshadow the greater things about them.

It hasn't gotten to that point yet of course. I'm glad they actually have time and freedom to build their craft individually especially the rappers. BTS has some of the most talented and artistic idols in the industry and I want them to be able to explore those talents and creativity even more through idol life (as difficult as that is) and I think they won't be able to do that as much if they start focusing on the thirsty fangirls. About focusing on both - you only have four limbs and 24 hours in a day.

The members not liking it is purely speculation that I get whenever I hear them talking about their worries especially RM and Yoongi. *flashback to those lyrics from The Last*

I was talking about the floor move idk really what to call it. And no, those were definitely not the only things I was paying attention to. This is actually my favorite choreo from them overall. I've been waiting for a choreo that really highlights what the dance line can do and this is it.

sellouts? my dudes, no. in fact, HELL no.

listen: this song is pretty much FULL of sexual innuendo from lyrics to mv so it only makes sense that the choreo is equally sexual (and yet compared to INU it's not even that lewd lmao). fear not, however, as they are an extremely versatile group and won't pigeonhole themselves into the sexy concept forever.

this kind of overreaction is exactly what i don't want to see. it's baseless and frankly very irritating.

I agree! This choreography looks really impressive and cleanly executed and there are a lot of those really subtle moves that make all the difference. I should have probably mentioned what I liked about it beforehand.

But I was just expressing my worries. It's not about my own liking because I live for sexy Jimin and EveryonexJimin and that was basically a Jimin harem move right there. I will never be able to say if they're unhappy but the point that I was trying to make was that if they are, they shouldn't be forced to do this. If this is what they want, them I'm all for it. I don't want them to force themselves into that "certain portrayal of how BTS should be" as well.

This choreo isn't even that bad though. Not much more than they usually do and that floor move probably only happens once maybe twice if I could guess but everything else overshadows it for me. I don't think their compromising their authenticity at all. It's like you're assuming that this is all they're ever going to do after this. It doesn't have to be either talent or sexuality. Both of these things can co-exist. I doubt the articles talking about their albums, music production and choreography are going to stop. Honestly, I find the choreo to actually be more sensual that sexual in my opinion and it goes with the song. There will always be fans like that that go "oppa is so hot" regardless of if they do something overly sexy or not. But this choreo isn't overly sexy though. I think the song makes it seem more sexy than it really is and the fact that we're aware that it's supposed to be sensual/sexy.

The choreographers are the same ones that did Fire and Save me and it really has the same intensity as both those songs.
