I just went through these today when doing table of contents. Really awesome selection, right up my alley, with the exception for Chthonic. It was good, but I usually listen to heavier stuff for that kind of metal. Especially liked Elephant Gym. Excited to go through your next post tom night after work n class

I actually remembered an artist i haven't been following for yers, that I should be... Alan! My memory clicked since she sang Road to Heaven before

 

 

Ah, my celebrity crush. She's back in China now, building up her career there.

 

I actually wish Alan and Summer (Jike Junyi) had more ethnic inspired songs. I don't know if it's because they sing what their companies give them or they just want to appeal to everyone, but they are too mainstream. 

 

She's done a few ethnic songs live since returning to China:

 

 

 

^ I think on this show she and a few other C-pop stars traveled and stayed with different ethnic minorities in China and learn their traditional folk music, then had to incorporate what they learned into new songs. This one was for Tibet, so she was kind of at a home advantage here.

 

 

 

^ I don't know what this one was for (I don't read or speak Chinese), but them high notes starting at 8:57...I love it when she puts that classical training to use. Speaking of...
