Not to be confused with so-called K-pop 'digital monsters', this game is actually about the famous Digimon franchise. Notice how this is my own spin on Digimon, and it doesn't follow any of the rules and gameplay from any Digimon games, whether video or card games. Digimon is more or less only a theme. This is also the first time I'm trying a game of this sort, so please bear with me and have patience.

The gameplay is rather simple. Each of the players will be randomly assigned a Rookie-level Digimon, with unique Attack (ATK) and Defense (DEF) stats. During each round the players will have to tell me in the provided PM whether they want to attack or defend. Attacking or defending twice in a row is not allowed. So for example, if you attacked in the first round, you will have to defend in the second round etc.

It's a 16 players game and will consist of the following phases:

Battle phase - players send their actions in the provided PMs, lasts for 10 minutes.

Bonus phase - there will be three bonus phases in which players will be able to win additional 20 points which they can add to their stats. Bonus phases will occur every second round (in round 1, round 3 and finally in round 5) and will feature questions related to Digimon. The first player to answer correctly will be the winner of the bonus. Phase lasts for 5 minutes. Notice that the points won in bonus phases are not permanent, and will expire when used. If a player has two or multiple bonuses won, they'll only be able to use them one at a time.

The game will be following this pattern:

- The preliminaries - players will be split in groups of 4 and each of them will battle the other three players in the group, until we have the top 2, who will proceed to the knockout phase. The preliminaries will last for three rounds. The Digimon who make it through the preliminaries will digivolve to their Champion level and each get an increase of 100 points for both their ATK and DEF.

- The Knockout stage consists of Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Finals and the Third-place battle, similar to most tournaments. After the Quarterfinals the 4 remaining Digimon will digivolve to their Ultimate level, and and after the Semifinals the two remaining Digimon will digivolve to their Mega level, with an increase in points as described above.

Notice: Since all Digimon have ATK and DEF stats unique to them, there should be no ties, except for the cases where a player won a bonus and added additional points to one of his Digimon's stats, and as a result the two battling Digimon might have an equal stat. In this case, speed will determine the winner, meaning the player who sent their action first will be proclaimed the winner.

So to resume, luck is a big factor, but since the battle order will be announced before we start the game, the players should plan ahead and carefully decide on their actions.

- Editing posts (during the bonus phase) is forbidden, and I will discard your reply if you edited it. If you want to answer again, please answer in another post.

- Once your action is noted it's considered final, you can't re-do and send it again.

- Alliances and such are forbidden, but they're more or less useless since it's not a team-based game.

- Do not discuss the game on any other platforms.

- Please be nice to each other, and remember it's just a game.

Since maybe the mechanics might be unclear to some players, I'm gonna do a simulation below.

So let's say my Digimon partner is Agumon for example

And Haru's Digimon partner is Gabumon

We both decided to attack, so I would win in that case since Agumon has higher ATK stat.

If we both decided to defend, Haru would win since Gabumon has higher DEF stat.

If I decided to attack while Haru defended, I would win since Agumon's ATK stat is higher than Gabumon's DEF stat.

You get the drill.

Also, important notice! I will be doing attendance check for 10 minutes starting at 2PM EDT/6PM GMT, before we start with the actual game, so anyone who doesn't make it by then will be replaced.

One final thing, I forgot to include it in the rules (but will do now):

Once you send in your action and I note it, it's considered final. No going back and sending again.

This is based on luck only cause I have no clue what are my rivals' akp and def points

There is an Imgur link with all the Digimon and their stats in the 2nd post, check it out.
