The two companies also have different views and priorities when it comes to the artists or talents that they train. The CEOs of the two companies, JYP (Park Jin Young) and Yang Hyun Suk (YG) revealed the qualities and traits of individuals that they favor to enter their respective companies. Koreaboo reported the details straight from the CEOs themselves.

The CEO of JYP Entertainment, Park Jin Young, stated, "No matter how good someone is at singing and dancing, if they are not bright and healthy people, I cannot bring myself to produce them. I do not know why I would want to help achieve such people's dreams. Making money is important but I want that process to be happy. If someone is lacking in either skill or character, I help them as much as I can but my real dream is to grow people who have both."

Yang Hyun Suk, the CEO of YG Entertainment, on the other hand, said, "Park Jin Young prioritized people's kindness but I am the opposite. If I were to put priorities, it would be talent, work ethic, and then kindness. Having worked as a producer for 20 years, I have developed an eye much like someone who can tell a female chick from a male in one second. When it comes to picking out future stars, I have developed such an eye."

YG may have developed an eye for picking out talent and stars but he sure doesn't do much to showcase their talent to fans after he's picked them. Half his singing roster is in the dungeon. JYP benches his best singers as well or just have them doing dumb shit. Both companies have talent but what's the use in boasting about it when we hardly get to see it and they don't need to show it to make money.

thats why jyp groups dont have much longevity and for yg he doesnt even use his talents properly, both suck.

How about Wonder Girls and 2PM? G.O.D. too even tho they are not under JYPE anymore.

They may not be as popular as before in Korea but they still manage to continue as group. WG and 2PM are aiming for longevity than be a trendy group again.

I'd say YG focuses on individuality or differentiation.

SM focuses on talent. Very good singers, very good dancers, and if they lack those talents they're probably very good looking or good at variety.

And then, boom! JYP have all: talent, good personality, and hardwork (most all of them make compose their own comeback songs, stable no lipsync performance, for example) artists. :hurr:

Let me remind my self about Jimin for the most example...

It's even just at singing talent. Not to mention dancing and variety show talent. Their variety show doesn't even look fake and keep their image. They just show how they are.

YG doesn't do a very good job at showing their artist fullest potential in their talents.

I like JYPs method, they focus more on having likeable people with good character along with hard work. That's what makes people connect with idols most. Also JYP actually feels like a family, just look at how WG current and former members get along, Fei's heartwarming message to Jia, Jay Park wishing 2pm the best, ect.

JYP focuses on personality because he's producing idols, image is important for them. While YG takes pride in producing artists even though he puts them in the dungeon afterwards.

JYP has always emphasized on the fact that in the long run, it is hard to keep a healthy image if its fake. We have all known how image is important for an idol, how knetz can drag someone once that celebrity is exposed.

Its not always about talent in the kpop industry, it is also the charms and good image. Over time, talent can be improved, while an image can either be faked for as long as possible until they're exposed, or be truly genuine and not problematic.

I like JYP's mindset. There's less problematic people in JYP in comparison with SM and YG. At least with JYP, he personally maintains good relationship with people who left, no lawsuit is necessary unlike in SM.

do you know that JYPent 1st groups were Wonder Girls, 2PM and 2AM? Any of them have already disbanded. Meanwhile, where's 1TYM from YG?

I don't understand you talking about longevity when all JYPent groups are still in the game.

People in this thread really think JYP cares about his artists more than money and is more "familial" and different from money hungry SM and YG.
