waffles8000 541
this is probably just gonna be me talking about all of the anxiety and stress im dealing with rn i started grade 11 like a month ago and its pretty tough, but ive been reviewing every night and taking notes on all the stuff ive learnt in my classes to stay on track and last week, i went to the mall on saturday and didnt realise how much work i had to do for sunday, and on sunday night i pulled an all nighter studying for adv functions and chemistry, bc i had a test and a quiz the next day when i got my adv fun test back, i got an 84, which is less than what i wanted, but i was still pretty chill about it but then today i saw my chemistry mark and i got a 58 on that quiz... ive never gotten such a low mark before and it really shocked me i was fine at first but then my mom came home from work and i told her about how i got a 58 and she looked so sad and i just feel like i let her down and i feel so bad i expected to get a 70 on that quiz, because i didnt prepare enough, but i really didnt expect to get so low this probably sounds really pathetic to some of you, but i am just so upset with myself that i let her down i'm trying really hard to understand the content of the course but it is so difficult for me i want at least an 80 at midterms, and that is in about a month and i really don't know if i can fix it since i fucked up so early on...... i also need at least a 90 in adv functions to get into the uni i want to be in so now i just feel like i want to jump off a bridge
m_allegretti 574
First gotta get the hard bitch comment out of the way -> I hope you learned your lesson about time management. Ok now that's done you shouldn't really think you can just study and comprehend a subject by studying the week before. I really think studying more throughout the semester is better. Now a days you can listen to lectures on Youtube, find practice problems online, etc. I would work hard to make up for this bad grade. Have a calendar you use to keep track of what assignments are due when, what tests/quizzes are coming up, etc. One of the most important things to learn in life is how to come back from behind and deal with disappointment. Take this as a learning experience and I think it might be something you actually look back on with fondness for shaping your character. Good luck! Septiplier 501
I've had that happen to me before. My parents put alot if pressure on me and my brother to do well because they're immigrants and didn't have the same schooling that I had. It's OK though you didn't do well this time but you'll do better next time. Don't psych yourself out you'll be ok

piccolo's girlfriend 7,439
it's hard to do but what's important to remember is that the quiz is in the past, you can't change your grade, so you have to look forward to future assignments and work on those. your parents will forgive you for one bad grade, as long as your final grade is better you won't let them down. going to your guidance counselor is a great idea, i'm not in school right now but i do have really bad anxiety and i've found managing it is a lot easier if i get into a routine. so maybe if you do your work in the same spot/listen to the same music/eat the same snack at the same time every night it will help you focus! and once you get your emotions sorted out with the counselor, you could ask your teacher for extra credit assignments. a lot of teachers will be lenient on you if you let them know you're having anxiety issues, it's better to tell them right off the bat so it doesn't sound like an excuse if you need an extension on a paper or project. if you let them know beforehand, they're way more likely to let you have an extra day or two now and then to get stuff done. i believe in you! you're gonna do great and go far, all it takes is a little support and a push in the right direction. i hope you feel better! MineMuses 6,687
First off, accept your grades. There's nothing you can do. What's in the past stays in the past. Next, think about what you can do to make your grades better. Maybe better time management. Maybe try writing out a plan before you tackle assignments before you do them. I would recommend for every hour of work, you set aside 10-15 minutes to relax. Next, if you ever have time, try meditating or yoga as a way to help relax. Avoid all nighters at all costs. Studies have shown that you are more likely to do worse by pulling an all nighter than not studying and sleeping. If you're feeling depressed, go talk to someone like your counselor. If you're afraid of talking to anyone, you can always start and new thread here for people to talk to you. If you feel like committing suicide. Don't. Even though dying may sound like an option to get rid of your depression, it does nothing but passing it onto other people. I understand your struggles as I, myself and currently in high school and have massive amounts of pressure on me. Just remember, you are not alone. Many people are going through the same thing as you. Anyways, stay strong and you will get through it. Hwaiting!

Hwaiting! ive created a schedule for myself, but its pretty difficult to stick to it because things always pop up... like when i had planned to study and my family and i go out to eat and i can't get out of it. things like that happen a lot to me and if i don't show up to family gatherings and stuff i know my elders will probably think that i am really disrespectful.. so.. ugh depression seems to be a reoccurring thing for me, especially during the winter. ive done some research and it seems like i have some symptoms of seasonal affective disorder but i feel uncomfortable diagnosing myself with such a serious disorder... but winter is coming up soon, and i am really worried because i feel like the depression that comes with the wintertime is going to catch up to me and i am going to feel even worse than i already am. ive been clean from self harm for a couple of months, but it is really hard to fight the temptation of it... especially as my anxiety gets worse... thank you so much for your help tho, i feel so much better after reading everyone's encouraging posts

If you're constantly distracted and find it hard to focus maybe get tested for ADHD? That said even then having the planner and really thinking strategically will be an incredibly useful skill that will help you be successful in college!
