As some of your may have known, TOP collaborated with Sothebys to organize his first Art Exhibition / Auction for charity in Hong Kong this October.

The auction took place this afternoon and within just an hour, 25/28 art pieces were sold out at multiples of their estimated prices.

The auction is proven to be a huge success when the total sale of the collection went up to HKD 135,700,000 ~ USD 17,500,000

The most priced piece is JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT's INFANTRY sold at HKD 46,680,000 (~$6M)

Even his used pillow was sold at HKD 137,500 (~$15K)

T.O.P is also the first Korean Celebrity to participate in such Art event and carve such success, also the first KR celebrity who made it to H.Bazaar Art and he also got featured on CNN for his Art Exhibition.

I'm so so so proud of T.O.P. He truly made his passion become a reality! I was so surprised at how fast and smooth the auction went and I was so shocked at all the prices.

The fact that this is TOP's first ever Art exhibition, first ever Auction, all collected and curated by him, and yet it managed to sold out with a total sale that doubled its initial estimate - is truly truly amazing.

It's even more amazing when he would use the money earned to fund and promote young artists in the field. I can't express how proud I am because of him :rlytearpls:

WHAT AN ART! WHAT A KING! :datass:

is some of that going in his pocket

Unless, some of those was his art pieces, no. He said he wasn't going to receive commission from the sale.

He is so amazing, did this auction solely because of his passion in art :ahmagah:

And he spent a year despite his busy schedule collecting/picking art piece for this :rlytearpls:

Congratulations, Mr. Choi!! :ahmagah:  :ahmagah:

I'm glad the auction was such a success!!!

I'm so proud of him!!! He spent a whole year preparing this project (in despite of his tight schedule) with so much passion and dedication! I'm really happy he's accomplished his goal. And the fact that he did this with the purpose of helping young artists makes the whole thing even more awesome!!

Such a great result. I'm especially glad that all the pieces from somewhat less known Asian artists were sold at great prices. However, I'm surprised that the pieces that weren't sold were from Andy Warhol, George Condo, and Sigmar Polke. I wonder if before the auction Sotheby should have promoted a bit more actual pieces on sale as I feel that those pieces didn't get sold 'cause collectors weren't aware of them being on the market?
