i have a few questions about this genre of girl groups

i'm sure many of you are aware of some if not all of these so called sexy "dance"  groups (i.e. bambino and laysha). they have extremely viral fancams and are more often than not scantily clad.

examples:

[WARNING] butt cheeks and cleavage

so i have a few questions about this after clicking through some fancams.

1. why is it that some of these groups have fancams with like 10mil views, but they aren't popular in the same way Hani got popular off of a fancam?

2. do these groups consider themselves to be "kpop" groups? i know they don't promote on regular music shows, but is that because they can't or don't want to?

3. is there no market for boy groups with a similar concept/promotional style?

4. can this be considered gogo dancing?

1. Hani's fancam got really popular because not only was it sexy, but it was an AMAZING song that got people interested in EXID.

2. They are Kpop girl groups, they just are not allowed to go on the shows because their dances are too sexy or their company is too poor to have the group appear on these shows or doesn't want them to learn new choreography.

3. Not that I know of. Boy groups do the sexy concept differently and more masculine.

4. Yeah.

Their inability to sing well holds them back, although it's not clear whether their management is trying to take a performance group w/a ton of dancing & performance talent to the next level, or whether because they went SO viral, they smelled an opportunity to carve out a lucrative new niche. After two years & gathering a large fandom, they are somewhere between idols and popular sexy cover dancers. They get gigs in China, for corporations & at a lot of festivals.  They perform in front of larger and larger, enthusiastic crowds.  I don't think anyone has louder fans. I'm guessing that their performance fees are much sweeter than Rose Queen's etc. I write about them because they are unique & have started several trends. If you want more detail on Bambino and why they are going to dominate aspects of KPOP, you can go to my blog www.bodhispeaks.com  I stan them, but I do it realistically.

1. They are popular, alright, just not popular in the "public mainstream" sense. Because well, like you can see, basically they're more about sexy dances and might not be considered as "idols" who released albums and such

2. Depending on definition of "kpop group"

They can be called "kpop group" , and some medias call them "rookie girl group", but if you define "kpop group / girl group" as a group that consists people who sing AND dance, then they might not fit the idea since they're basically dance group.

3. If there's enough females to buy into it, then there is.

But as we know, female sexuality sells way more than male sexuality (female depiction in videogames, movies, porn, and blahblah)

4. Yep

AFAIK they make a living by performing in events / clubs and such, and the popular ones like bambino might make way much more money than some nugu idol group lol

All above are written as of my knowledge, feel free to CMIIW

Let's go point by point.  For more extensive info & discussion go to www.bodhispeaks.com which stans Bambino.

1. They are popular, alright, just not popular in the "public mainstream" sense. Because well, like you can see, basically they're more about sexy dances and might not be considered as "idols" who released albums and such.

>>> Bambino has released three songs & Eunsol has been popular and does commercials, TV shows in China, endorsements & appearances.  She is the one who is closest to being a real idol, without ever having sung one note!  The group also promoted Cool Dry products at Club Octagon (the #1 club in Seoul) for a major Korean corporation over the Summer, and appeared with rap star Simon Dominic.  They are popular in a lot of club & festival circles, but are more well-known than most in this category.  They remain controversial because they are seen as being a type of "soft core porn."  But they are strong dancers & their fan service is off the charts.

2. Depending on definition of "kpop group"

They can be called "kpop group" , and some medias call them "rookie girl group", but if you define "kpop group / girl group" as a group that consists people who sing AND dance, then they might not fit the idea since they're basically dance group.

>>> Bambino has been around since 2014 actually & were really whipping up crowds back then. So they are a veteran performance group.  Definitions are breaking down in KPOP today as groups like Bambino with young, aggressive management companies try to force an "underground" which plays both to the "adult" style performance concept and also tries to push into the mainstream.  Another thing is that their training period was shorter than it is for most idols.  They were excellent dancers coming into KPOP (one trained in ballet) and always give great performances.  They are the one group in that nugu category that always looks sharp and professional onstage.  Despite having given hundreds of performances, to this day they have not fucked up in a performance.  Hadam is said to be a perfectionist.  What's important - most important when you cut away all the other stuff - is that their upfront investment was less, which means they have most likely returned on their investment.  That is why the agency was able to fund MVs for both Bambino & Laysha.  The big groups are a riskier investment.  So the new economic model: get talented women, committed to being famous and put them in fewer clothes.  Fewer clothes; fewer expenses.......

Public reports say the average salary of an idol group (female) is about $43,000 (USA currency).  That is more than the average Korean makes.  But keep in mind that the management company pays for their housing, training, outfits and PS.  The fact is, to get to the point where Bambino has gotten, you have to beat the odds & be lucky.  Over 100 new groups debut each year and fewer than 5 end up anywhere near being "successful." Nugu City is where most live & remain (Rose Queen is an example of a group that should've been, but never was.....2L too.) Bambino may have "cheated" a little to get where they are, which is why they are resented by many in the mainstream. But they never gave a shit and even flaunt what they did, which pissed KPOP taliban types even more I think.

>>>> I hear a lot of female fangirls shrieking at Bambino performances since they released an MV.  It used to be all slutty guys like us......No more. Should be interesting to see if they can break out and make a run for idol-dom.  Would love to know what everyone thinks.

4. Yep

>>> Bambino works constantly and probably gets the highest performance fees of all.  They are way more popular than all the other girl groups who dance and their fancam numbers blow a great majority of idols away.  They once dominated their category, but it's clear that other groups, known and nugus alike, have been influenced by them.  Whether they admit it or not is another matter.  The one thing we observed while doing work for an article about Bambino is that KPOP groups don't borrow concepts, they fucking steal them outright w/o ever giving credit.  IMHO Bambino changed KPOP but hasn't gotten much credit for it.

>>> We follow Bambino closely & have a  Korean language researcher working to learn more for a longer article on them.  Sorry to have written so much here.

Is 43000 yearly or monthly ?

Annually. (They wish it was monthly!) Only the real big stars, with actual music and major concert sales or endorsements do those types of numbers. Remember also: these groups must share with multiple members & also pay back their management until the original costs are returned. For the most part they do it for the fame & prestige
