Ginger91 195 Posted September 30, 2016 Share Posted September 30, 2016 The Raid: Redemption is a 2011 Indonesian-language martial arts action movie, for those that don't know. And The Raid 2: Berandal is an Indonesian martial arts crime film which is the sequel to The Raid Redemption. If you haven't seen them yet, both movies are available on PSN to rent or buy. That's how I watched the two movies. But I'm gonna answer my question. I thought The Raid: Redemption was the better of the two films. It was all pulse-pounding action almost all the way through, and this having been the first martial arts and Indonesian movie I have ever seen, this is a great way to enter the genre imo. The choreography is amazing, but still grounded in reality and appropriate for the context of the movie. The Raid Redemption has a very simple story, with very little /actual/ story scenes within the movie, so the story is told through fight scenes and dialogue between the character. And when I say dialogue I do not mean a narration, or the obligatory character that only exists to explain the plot. Dialogue as in the threats being said and orders given. The camerawork is excellent, so you feel as if you are with the characters, experiencing it all with them. I give the Raid Redemption a 10/10.
