Do idols really not care about their fans?

So many times, especially among the translated comments on dating news, there's at least one that says, 'fangirls wasting money over their oppas. See they don't care about you'. Other times, there are comments saying how there's no point in going to fanmeets, fansigns, concerts etc. because the idols will not remember one single fan within the ocean of faces.

Yet, Apink's Eunji only a few days ago said how it hurt when a long-term fan she greeted in a store turned away from her, SVT Vernon notes down fan's names on his palm so he can memorise their names, Shinhwa has called out old fans for coming on all the important events, BlockB's Zico dedicated a rap to a fan who died in the Sewol ferry incident etc.

On the other hand, people say EXO members have used their fans to get expensive presents, Ukiss asked fans to gift some game etc.

So in your opinion, do your idols care for fans as people or do they see them as only a means to get rich?

Of course they care, it's their primary source of income they have to treat them right. Ofc some may become cocky with time become they think they are known or because they are back up by a big company or for any other reason but it's not the majority of them.

Besides, when you see the same person again and again, you will remember him even though you don't want too, it's just normal.

Some do, some don't.

It's honestly hard for me to imagine someone NOT caring at all when they receive an overwhelming amount of love and support from their fans. But as we know, it's not only love and support that comes from "fans", when you screw up they may turn on you (and that's exactly when these comments about fans being stupid comes in) and all the love will turn into hate, and that's where I think many would be more cold about fans and all the "support" they'll receive. It's understandable tho.

Maybe I'm being too naive, but I don't think there's many people around who completely despise their fans.

I think it honestly depends on the idol individually sometimes, but a lot has to do with company culture & how popular a group is tbh

I don't stan Infinite, but they seem really appreciative of their fans, which is probably bc they started with humble beginnings & really grew their popularity from scratch to where they are now

Some groups, however (not gonna name specific ones), give off the feeling like they're over the whole catering to fans thing, which depending on your POV, can be considered rude......personally i wouldn't want to stan a group like that

Of course there r idols who really care about their fans and appreciate every single effort fans do to them but lets be real there are also idols who pretend they care but in reality they r just after their fan's money & for popularity just like those Hollywood stars who even curse their fans.

I think groups with very small fandom can appreciate mor each fan induvidually, but with large fandom it's impossible. Tho it shows that idols know their long term fansite masters or fanunions leaders, ect.

And those comment op is talking aboit is stupid. "You pay money and they are buying present tontheir gfs thanks to you, you are stupid". Wtf, I pay for entertainment they give to me and the are spending their own money as they want, this ill logic, tsk.

Also exo members ordered food trucks for fans during promotion several times and Chen even payed cafe so fans could come with coupons and eat here

apparently EXO member D.O is telling the fans to stop giving him gifts from fan unions. http://onehallyu.com/topic/400396-akp-exos-do-decides-to-stop-accepting-gifts-from-his-fan-union/

And during the monster era promotion exo members also give some food trucks for their fans.  :dave:

kpop is just this whole manufactured industry where you never know whats real or not. Idols who seem to care may really not while those who don't may really do. Bursting this huge bubble wherein idols and fans get along doesn't really do good for both parties.
