Setting down basics before you try to develop your own style is really, really helpful! Transitioning from anime to realistic drawing is one of the hardest things I ever tried to do I guess the best "tip" is to try to make yourself do realism. Setting down basics before you try to develop your own style is really, really helpful! I got myself into so many bad habits by ignoring realism for a long time. :( I've realized that I copy other people's style. Grid paper is nice for beginners , like it's useful for portraits etc -1st key to realism in the human body is knowing every bit of anatomy. At school we're entitled to learn from the bones to the muscles to the skin to etc etc etc etc *headache* Not that I can do that ,it's a bitch ...but it's very helpful if you do. -Hands are one of/ are the most complicated things to draw in the human body. -Gawd everything is so beautiful if you draw it you can spend hours analyzing every curve / space.
