minime 1,128
Hmm, this is just anecdotal evidence but all the Desi kpoppers I have ever known have been SM stans in general. Especially, all the older ones are Cassie, the middle ones are Shawol and the younger ones are Exo-ls. (I haven't known any solo/primary Beauties or Inspirits. Since, ShiBeIn are same range popular in Korea, why don't they have comparative fandoms here too?) Some have opined that Thailand has many JYPE fans because of Nichkhun. Tzuyu has also shown her impact in Taiwan. Do your country's kpoppers stan one specific group or company by overwhelming majority? If so, then why? Is there a way to know for definite beyond just he-said-she-said?
PsychoLotus 1,546
I think the American Kpoppers tend to stan YG groups and exo since they top the US itune charts and billboard digitals
rissa 449
i live in canada and the kpop fans at my school(theres A LOT) tend to really like exo, bts, or got7 for boygroups and apink, twice or red velvet for girl groups. i haven't come across any company stans though. Dew 1,652
My friend from Peru told me most of the newer generation isn't relevant there. Groups like Super Junior and Shinee are more recognizable than say EXO. This is only anecdotal, though, so there may be some bias and inaccuracy. taemoan 1,318
I tend to stan mostly SM groups but I like a lot of other groups from other companies as well. I feel like Western fans tend to stan mostly SM and/or YG groups.

Mr. iCanDoItAll 1,395
Something like this is hard to conclude without doing a survey/census and is only based off anecdotal evidence so it's likely to be inaccurate.
gallant 288
From personal experience, most casual K-Pop listeners in the US tend to gravitate to YG acts and also groups like BTS, EXO, etc (with a more Western-influenced sound).
lovelikewhitney 1,667
I think the American Kpoppers tend to stan YG groups and exo since they top the US itune charts and billboard digitals I would agree with this. Add BTS and I'd say that's pretty representative of the US in general Not me, though. My bias groups almost all come from SM with exception of Oh My Girl
Kanan 4,318
Idk, I live in the US and most of the Kpop fans here that I meet are really, really into BTS, Toppdogg, Block B and EXO. Not so much GGs or groups that aren't those two. There are a shitfuckton of Shawols that I met while I was in Chicago. But again, a lot of them were still pretty multifandom and also liked BTS/EXO. misaka 1,249
In my school, all I heard were Exo, Got7, BTS, Twice, Red Velvet and Black Pink. And if there's an event they played songs from these groups too.
Counting Pulses 3,955
Most of the kpop fans I've seen around me/met are BTS/Exo fans. I'm the only Inspirit (and casual SHINee/B2ST listener) I know. I found a Starlight surprisingly enough, who was in my class last semester. I know a VIP who also stans Winner. I remember accidentally eavesdropping on a conversation a group of guys were having behind me a couple years ago. Found out they were Sones. That's about it..... Smash 170
Is a company stan a person who likes all the groups on a label? What if they like most of the groups on a label? Is that the same?
xicondi 546
When I first got into Kpop in 2009, everyone I knew was into SM groups because I used to hear about SuJu, Shinee, and SNSD all the time but now most of the Kpop fans I know in the U.S. are into YG groups, BTS, EXO, and GOT7. For girl groups, I know a lot of people into 2NE1 (mostly CL), 4Minute (RIP), and Blackpink. However, where my brother lives in Austin, Texas, the Kpop fans he knows over there seem to really like f(x).
ImAmazing 7,501
I don't know about company stans, but Big Bang seems to be well liked in my school. There's also BTS and Exo (maybe Got7 and Seventeen) as well, they're very popular at my school. For girl groups, it seems to be 2ne1 and F(x). Is there a way to know for definite beyond just he-said-she-said? I think it's more regional, than anything national. and the regional difference I think is more about WHEN Kpop penetrated their region. for example a lot of SEA like Filipinos and Malays like groups like Super Junior. but SJ is pretty much before Kpop penetrated the US and Europe. in the US they like newer groups like BTS, BAP, EXO. even someone like Beast and 2PM are a little bit before Kpop really took off, so not many fans. obviously TVXQ is popular in Japan. they, JYJ basically have 0 fans in the US I'm sure this is also reflected regionally. I mean 2PM and Beast do not necessarily make the type of music that is popular in the US. it has to do with when ppl were exposed to Kpop but groups like Big Bang certainly do produce music keeping in mind what Western music trends are. also Twice and Red Velvet definitely do that as well. as for India or Russia or w/e honestly Kpop is not widely popular in the US but it is KNOWN. millennial people know about Kpop and most people have at least heard some if they live in anywhere close to a diverse area. but I think in the Middle East, India etc it's still very very niche. I'm sure there are many kids in their 20s who have no idea what Kpop is so "preferences" in those areas probably have a very large sampling error. in other words what some particular person or group of ppl specifically personally like
