Crisis In Sweden: Swedish Cops Quitting Job After Losing Control of 55 '' Refugee No-Go Zones''

The inflow of asylum seekers in Sweden, a country with one of the most liberal laws towards refugees, is putting an increasing strain on the country's police. There are now reportedly 55 areas in the country, where the law is not fully upheld.

Dubbed â€œno-go zones†in some media reports, there are now 55 areas in Swedish cities, where the police have significant problems in tackling crime. They are divided into three categories depending on how significant the risk to officers working there is.

The number has risen from 50 in February, when the police last gave a comprehensive report on the issue, and last week, when the law enforcement agency gave an update. According to media reports, the service is facing a major crisis of self-confidence, with as many as three officers on average asking to resign on a daily basis. Internal polls say four officers out of five have been considering a change of profession lately.

“We have a major crisis. Many colleagues are choosing to quit,†police officer Peter Larsson told the Norwegian broadcaster NRK. â€œA drastically worsened working environment means many colleagues are now looking for other work.â€

If officers go into a no-go zone, they risk being verbally attacked or pelted with stones. Patrol cars may be set ablaze or stolen.

Crime rates in the blacklisted areas are on the rise, the police report said. The offenses range from vandalism to drug crimes to sex assaults and gun violence. One particular example is Malmo, Sweden's third-largest city, where more than 70 cars were set on fire by arsonists over several days. The police managed to arrest only one suspect while investigating those attacks.

Ironically, after the Hungarian government used the existence of no-go zones in Europe to promote its cause for an upcoming referendum on EU quotas, the Swedish embassy rebuked it saying that no such areas existed in their country.

"It is important to us that accurate information about Sweden is given to the citizens of Hungary. The embassy has therefore had reason to object sharply to a map of Europe with red markings in a handful of member states, including Sweden, in which the Hungarian government claims that so-called 'no-go zones' exist, where police and the state have no control over citizens' safety," Anna Boda, the Deputy Head of the Swedish diplomatic mission in Budapest told The Local.

“No-go zone†is a loaded term with no clear definition and caused division earlier amid the ongoing refugee crisis in Europe. Last year Paris wanted to sue Fox New for a report, which said no-go zones existed in the French capital.

I guess the quality of life is getting more balanced in the world.

But instead of getting better in second and third world countries, it's worsening in first world ones. Soon we'll all have a shitty life, how wonderful.

I don't know how refugees have anything to do with this?! There's no link between the first paragraph and the rest. I was reading trying to figure out why is this refugees' fault and I find no correlation!? Especially considering how the refugee crisis is still new. Refugees are still settling in. They haven't been in Sweden long enough to dominate entire areas to themselves. This sounds more like Xenophobics trying to create chaos to prove a point.

My country have been accepting Syrian refugees since 2013 and we don't have any of these problems. Why is that? I'm genuinely curious  :donthinkso:

That's the consequences you have to deal with when the media and politicians are afraid to have an open discussion about the topic because its deemed as a"touchy and risky" subject. Instead of integrating the refugees with the majority of the population they basically created ghettos. Ridiculous.

is it really as bad as the media says?

Definitely not. The government has just been a mess when it comes to the overall refugee politics. But a huge majority of the people who are coming to Sweden are peaceful. Why wouldn't they considering the reasons of them fleeing from their homes? But ofc there are individuals who aren't as peaceful, but people like that exists everywhere.

The cops quitting situation have been on the news all this year, and the reason for them quitting is because of bad income considering the job they do and the long hours of work.

Don't come to Sweden, nothing to see nor do here. I'm moving as soon as possible.

^Agreed.

Swedish cops have a rough deal. The government has cut funding year after year so now they have less resources and personnel. The large wave of immigration that has arrived the last decade has led to an increase in crime, which happens whenever your low income population increase regardless of the culture they come from. Less police, less pay and more crime is not a good mix.

Adding to this the Swedish justice system hasn't the will to back the Swedish police up. If your going to give 30 hours community service to a refugee child rapist, your not deterring crime and creating a situation where is takes significantly more police hours to build a case against a criminal than they revive in punishment. The payoff isn't there. Their work is pointless.

Finally someone here who actually read the article, that's what i was thinking till i saw the source

is it really as bad as the media says?

From the things i read other Swedish people say no, nothing rt.com publishes is trustworthy, there's a propaganda behind all the rt posts/links as you can see from the way the article it's written.

I won't take it seriously.

I'll quote what a swedish person who actually lives near there said

> bad neighbourhood

> dilliusioned teens with anger issue

> teaching good virtues (???)

> poverty

Sure, fam. More like a recipe for radicalisation to take place. All is well until one starts blowing up people.

Edit: user reportedly quoted a swedish guy andecote of that neighourhood before she delete it.

The article doesn't make sense barely mentioning the refugee (as expected coming from rt.com)

As well as your comment since it's not even about radicalisation.

That's what a Swedish person who actually lives there said (which i choosed to delete because i don't want to post things without the person permission)

And just by looking at the source RT.com i could already tell this whole story doesn't sound right, the content there is so unreliable and it's so problematic some of the biggest news forum don't want to publish any news that comes from them. Just look at all the coverage of the Ukraine Crisis. They deny even the most basic truth, like there being Russian soldiers in Ukraine.

RT, is a terrible source. It was specifically founded to influence western opinion. Buzzfeed (of all places) actually has a really good breakdown of some of their issues and i'll quote

“It was my first job and I feel embarrassed and ashamed.†An inside look at what it’s like to work at the Kremlin-funded media outlet.

So, sorry buy i prefer to believe the words of the Swedish people who actualy live there (which clearly makes more sense) than RT.com, a very terrible and biased news source.

If you payed attention i said

Buzzfeed (of all places) actually has a really good breakdown of some of their issues

BuzzFeed is not constant stream of quizzes and gifs you know, if you actually read what they had to say about it (which is very interesting and what many people have pointed about the site as well) you wouldn't act as if what i said is a joke, RT is very known to be a terrible news source, just because i used a BuzzFeed article (which it's not as bad as you make it out to be) doesn‘t mean what i said and what is known about RT.com isn't valid, what kind of logic is that?

I'm trying to have a serious conversation with you and i'm not trying to be right, i'm just informing OP and many other people who dont know anything about RT.com and it's lies, what kind of site it is so please put your ego aside.

My comment (well the guy's comment) was pointing out the lies in the article since he lives near there, you started to say they were all lies adding radicalism (which is not even mentioned in the article but whatever), then i have a question do live near Rosengård? Can you tell me how's the situation there?
